J turned and was surprised to see Jasmine standing there, in full battle gear. He looked behind her and could see there were about a dozen Colonial Marines in the yard, milling around. J knew this was not a good sign. Walking up to her, he extended his right hand and greeted her.
"Well, this can't be a social call Jasmine, otherwise you wouldn't have brought reinforcements with you. We can sit here on the porch and talk."
Looking at his father-in-law, J looked back at Jasmine.
"You know my father-in-law, or dad as I prefer to call him?"

Jasmine shook J's hand and smiled at Tirin, bowing slightly to the man. Looking back at J, she walked over to a seat on the porch, sitting down.
"Why yes, I remember the Captain. It's good to see you again Sir. As for the Marines, they're here for you, to use around here just in case."
Jasmine watched as the Marines stood there in the yard, unsure of what they were supposed to do. Looking back at J, she spoke quietly.
"J, as you may or may not be aware, there have been several attacks by Cylon terrorists, Cylons that now look different from one another, from the known humanoid models. The Admiralty is in a tissy about this, as is the government, both of them. Now anyone can be a Cylon. Apparently the Cylons were successful in combining human and Cylon DNA and have been busy these past several years, growing them in their labs.
Now, the Gunstar Daphne has been attacked, was able to launch life pods and flew into the basestar that attacked it. The Terrans believe that there are Cylons on the planet and to be honest, we agree with them, hence the Marines that I brought with me. Admiral Middleton wants Marines on every ship we have, civilian, Terran, Colonial, you name it. Supplies have been crammed aboard every ship in the event we evacuate but there's no way everyone can be gotten off this planet, especially since they are evacuating Ares right now. Fifty thousand people to get off of that planet, you know?"
Jasmine took a moment to catch her breath, then waited for J to soak everything in. She wondered what his wife would think about all of this....

Elea walked away from the woman with Sirin, she knew the importance of J's position, and of the sensitivity of the information they were sharing.
She took the baby into the living room where the girls were watching one of their favorite shows on the New Colonial Network. A new Earth, a new civilization;

Flying overhead, the sounds of what had to be a hundred heavy raiders and their escort types could be heard for kilometers and kilometers. The invasion of the planet called Terra was just beginning......

J suddenly looked up, seeing the vapor trails of the raiders and heavy raiders. Close behind were the Terran aircraft, Pythons if he recalled correctly. Same as a Viper, only slightly smaller and a little bit faster. J knew this was nothing good, especially when the sounds of explosions could be heard. he wondered why the Cylons weren't using nukes, like they always have in the past. Looking at Jasmine, J began walking back into the house.
"Colonel Yolander, I would imagine you need to be getting back. There are bigger issues to deal with right now. Why in the Lords of Kobol the Cylons are launching a surface invasion instead of nuking the planet, I'll never know but if that's what they want, I say let's give it to them. Notify Fleet Admiral Middleton I will be returning to active service, at the previous rank. Tell her I'll get someone from admin to send her the orders and such for her signature."
J was smiling, knowing full well Admiral Middleton would be looking for those orders shortly after he arrived back at headquarters.
"Get our people on the move, I'll be there soon enough, after I get my family to the safety of a battlestar."
J saluted Jasmine, then walked into the house. Shouting out to everyone who should be inside, J called to his family.
"Elea, dad, Alicia, girls? Everyone, come down here immediately. We have a situation."

Alicia came into the living room, having already heard both J's conversation with Colonel Yolander and the raiders flying overhead. She knew the deal and was already grabbing her bag. Walking up to J, she smiled.
"Tell me General, when do we leave?"

Elea came with the baby in an instant, her father followed behind already having been packing his most important tools, the stuff of engineers.
They looked ominously at J. The girls came in from their TV show. Each of them waited with anticipation for the plan from the head of the household. Elea spoke first:
"I will miss our home, but I think I speak for everyone when I say, when can we leave?" Elea smiled briskly as Sirin reached out his arms as if saying: "Go, Go, Go!"

Standing next to Sirin, Alicia steadied her bag on her left shoulder. Looking over at Elea and then the girls, she then turned to J.
"General, I think I hear the sound of a raptor getting ready to land right our front. My guess is Colonel Yolander anticipated its need."
Stepping onto the porch, she looked and saw not one but three raptors landing. The first two began disembarking Marines, who immediately formed up a perimeter around the house. The third raptor landed somewhat closer to the house, a Sergeant stepping down the ramp as it lowered. Running up to the house, she stopped and saluted Alicia. Yelling above the sound of the engines, she identified herself.
"Major, I'm Sergeant Melios and we're here to get you and everyone else out of here and to the Marine base asap!"
Alicia looked at J, who was already busy talking into his comm unit. Looking back at the Sergeant, she yelled to her.
"Good, we're ready to go." Looking at the others she called to them.
"Allright girls, grab those bags and get on that raptor there. Sirin, give those bags to the Sergeant. Elea, grab your husband!"

Turning at the sound of the landing raptors, J gave up on trying to get through to either Fleet HQ or Marine HQ. Seeing the Marines rushing out of the raptors told J that something was going on and Colonel Yolander was concerned enough to warrant diverting Marines to this location. Stepping towards the front door, J called out to his family, trying to insert a bit of lightheartedness.
"Come on, you heard the Major! We'll go to the base, then figure out what's happening from there."
Looking at Elea, J spoke somewhat softer.
"We'll be back, someday. I've got my keys, so I'll lock up. I need to get with the local help, see if any are interested in going with us. Those that choose to stay, well, we'll leave the house in their care. For now, we need to get to the safety of the Fleet. Why the Cylons aren't using nukes is beyond my comprehension. Why this style of attack, I don't get it. They're losing, as if on purpose. Where's those basestars? Anyway, we need to get out there, where we can do more good, where we belong."
J stopped and looked around the land. They had managed to rebuild their home, and they had managed to turn the land into something to be proud of. The locals they had asked to help them, to work the land, they were as much a part of this family as themselves. He knew the house and the land would be in good hands, until that day when they could return for good. J looked out the front door.
"I have all our important documents and such ready to go, in my bag upstairs. Tell 'em not to leave without me hon!"
J kissed his wife, then his infant son before rushing up the stairs to his small and overcrowded office, crammed with several bags of gear and belongings. Seeing a corporal standing on the porch, J called out to her.
"Corporal, come give me a hand with some bags please."
The corporal turned and came into the house, following J upstairs.

Jenna came bounding down the stairs just as her father and a marine were heading up. Stopping and turning to him, she asked a question.
"Dad, what about Timmy? I mean, we're not leaving him behind, right?"

Zarena stopped at the doorway from the kitchen, looking at her mother.
"Mom, shouldn't we leave the food for the workers that stay behind, or should we grab it? And Jenna, you KNOW Timmy is coming with us. Sometimes you really amaze me! How DO you manage to survive each day? Sheesh!"

Elea gave a discouraging look to Zarena but didn't say a word. Zarena felt the chill a bit, knowing she crossed into "The Mommy Zone". She gulped.
Elea turned to her husband then put her arms around both of her girls.
"We'll be back, don't worry. Now let's make your daddy and the major proud of us all. We've got work to do."
She kissed J as he locked the door.
"Will I be back where I belong, with a scalpel in my hand?"

Hurrying down the steps behind his family, J smiled at Elea.
"You know you will. Okay Sergeant, let's get to the base."
Climbing in the raptor, J looked back at the house once more. Looking to one of the raptors to their rear, J saw the ever-present Timmy getting inside. J smiled and would pay dearly to see the faces of the Marines in there with the centurion. Looking at the co-pilot, J shouted to her.
"Allright Lieutenant, get us out of here."
The raptor lifted from the ground and began to climb higher, moving forward slowly at first, then shooting forward in a lurching motion, flying towards the Colonial Marine base north of the capital city of Corinth, which was still under some sort of attack by the cylons, if one could even call it an attack.

Elea still holding the boy baby who sucked his thumb and rested on her breast in the raptor seat as he slept and suckled every now and then, oblivious to their departure.
She turned her head as the fans inside that rotated the air kicked in blowing her hair back as she squinted a bit seeing her home, another home, slowly disappearing from her view.
A strange, sad song filled their ears from the Lieutenant pilots music player up front:

Just before boarding the raptor, Elea sees Jenna being attacked by a viciously cute puppy.
Elea turned and looked at J with her sad, "I desperately need to bring something from home with us", and those "Can we keep him?" eyes.
