Walking to the cabinet, Alicia removes a cup and walks to the coffee pot to pour herself a cup. Turning to Mr. Kaun, Alicia offers him a refill.
"More coffee Sir?"
Elea's father laughs and nods yes.
"You do not have to call me sir young lady. I am not a member of your military!"
"It's a matter of respect Sir, and part of who I am. So, have I missed anything since I've been gone, other than those two upstairs who seem to be growing in leaps and bounds?"
Elea's father reached for the cup of cream. Looking at Alicia, he smiled.
"Well, as you see, a new home has been built. I really don't know why the Cylons felt it was necessary to bomb the last one, and just when the place was just right. I guess it had something to do with that man my daughter married. I don't know."
Elea's father shook his head, dropping it a bit.
"You know, I do like the man, but sometimes I just don't understand what it was my daughter saw or still sees in him. He's an absent father and husband. And I know, his job requires it to be that way. Hell, he has my daughter doing the same thing, and in her current condition, you know?"
Alicia looked up from her cup of coffee and stared at the man.
"Her condition? What do you mean?"
Elea's father looked at Alicia, then realized she didn't know.
"Why, she's pregnant again, didn't you know?"

Alicia was caught completely off guard with the announcement from Elea's father that Elea was pregnant, again! Ooooh, how she hoped it was a boy this time. She knew it really didn't matter what the sex of the child, she would of course continue to do her duty as nanny. Still, she felt that perhaps if Elea and J were to have a son, that would be the catalyst to keep that marine at home where he belonged.
Alicia believed, as did almost everyone from Canceron, that J had devoted enough of his life to the Colonial military and civilian government. Twice elected as Civilian Liaison to the Fleet, Vice-President of the government, then assuming the Presidency prior to the Fleet returning to this planet. Enough was enough! The government seemed to be doing just fine with his absence, as was the Colonial Marine Corps. It was time for him to fully retire. Looking at Elea's father, Alicia asked her whereabouts.
"So, where is my dear Elea?"
Elea's father sipped his coffee, then slowly replied.
"There's been an accident. Elea was en route to one of the Colonial ships, on a transport, when it crashed in the Gondawan region. There was a rescue mission, one that went awfully bad. All I have been able to learn from my Terran friends is that one of the local tribes there rescued Elea and many other survivors before leaving the crash site. As for beyond that, I have no idea. I do know she is being treated well."
Alicia was alarmed, very alarmed. Her apprehension showed in the expression on her face.
"My Gods! Tell me that is why J is gone, that he has his Marines involved in this?"
"J was missing before Elea. He was off on one of his private missions again. From what I hear, the Fleet Admiral is not pleased with him. Marines did get a lot of the crash survivors but there were some of those pesky rebels in the area making matters worse. I woouldn't worry about J though, he should be heading back to the capital soon. The Gondawans are pissed at him for being where he shouldn't have been and now he has to answer for it."
Alicia felt as if the whole world was turned upside down. Elea missing AND pregnant, J off on a tangent as usual, Gondawans, Terrans, rebels. When exactly would all of this insanity end? Looking at Elea's father, Alicia was sure of one thing.
"Well, in the meantime, I have two teen girls to tend to and a house that looks as if it could use a mild cleaning. Oh, before I forget, is the centurion still here? I can't explain it, but I actually feel much better when he's around, if you can call a centurion a he."
Elea's father laughed, almost spilling his coffee.
"Alicia, if it weren't for that centurion, I would have gone out of my mind. He's finally gotten the hang of playing chess. I'm sure he is where he always is, not far from the girls."

Bouncing down the stairs, after having tormented her sister and locked her in the bathroom, Jenna comes into the kitchen, planting a kiss on her grandfather's forehead.
"Hello there paw paw and hello to you Miss Grover. Isn't it such a pleasant day today?"
Batting her eyelashes in dramatic fashion, having learned the trait from her mother, Jenna begins talking in a southern Caprican accent.
"Why I do declare Mizz Grover, I wish everyday could be so grand and wonderful!"

"Why Jenna Bean, what has gotten into you?" Her grandfather replied with a raised eyebrow.

Stopping suddenly, Jenna saw the look on her grandfather's face. Smiling, she sits on his lap.
"Oh nothing paw paw. My, isn't the house so quiet and serene? No, wait, I hear the shrill cry of the Tauron shrew. Oh, no my bad paw paw. That's the shrill of the crazy bird from Caprica."
Getting off of her grandfather's lap, Jenna goes to the cup board and gets a glass. Going to the fridge, she opens the door and grabs the container of freshly squeezed orange juice. Pouring herself some, she gulps it down. Closing the fridge door and walking to the sink, she places the glass on the counter, turns and smiles at her grandfather and Alicia. Suddenly, she sees the Centurion standing there, Zarena right behind him. Her smile turns to disappointment.
"And I was so hoping to go the rest of the day, away from you. Thank you Centurion, for ruining my day by letting her out."

Barely hiding her anger, Zarena looks up at Timmy.
"Timmy, if you will, please shoot her. Don't kill her, just wound her really bad."
Timmy turned ever so slightly, looking down at Zarena.
"Ok, so never mind Timmy. As for you my dear sister, you're gonna get it."
Looking at her grandfather and Alicia, Zarena went on the attack.
"Just so you two know, SHE locked me in my closet! I could hardly breathe in there, no food, no water. I could have died of thirst or starvation. Thank the Lords of Kobol for Timmy. If it weren't for him, nobody would have rescued me."

Yelling to the girls, Alicia heads to her own room.
"Okay you girls, you heard your grandfather, we're going on a family outing. Now get changed into something more presentable and let's get this party started!"
Alicia decides she will wear something colorful and comfortable instead of her usual khaki trousers and duty pull over.

As Zarena got up from the floor, having been pushed by her sister, she rushed up the stairs after her, screaming.
"You are in so much trouble! And don't be taking any of my clothes!"
Reaching the top of the stairs, she saw Jenna there waiting for her. Grabbing her sister, she excitedly exclaimed.
"We're going on a trip! Can you believe it? This is SO cool!"
Planting a kiss on her sisters right cheek, Zarena rushed down the hall to her room, squealing in delight, leaving Jenna there to wonder what just happened.

Alicia stood there at the bottom of the stairs, watching the twins. She marveled at how fast they had grown and were becoming beautiful young women, just as vibrant and full of life as their mother. Alicia's thoughts suddenly turned to Elea, then to J. Where the frak were those two? She knew that Elea was supposed to be reporting to the Atlantia and that something happened.
As for the general, she never knew what that man was doing, nor could she figure out why Elea continued to put up with it.
Love, that was why.
Alicia called up after the girls.
"Hurry up, your grandfather isn't going to wait all day you know!"

As Elea's father:
"Gary, cancel all my appointments for the week. I need some family time." The staunch and mildly aging woodsy engineer-turned executive told his number one at the office.
Executive Kaun imagined some family time in the magical kingdom. Caprica World was, for all intense and purposes, the playground of the stars.

Having enjoyed a very exciting time with the twins and Elea's father, Alicia was glad to be back home. Now that Elea would be returning, Alicia decided perhaps it was time to get back to what she did best-being a Colonial Marine. She had called in a few favors and managed to get recalled back to active service. She was to report to the Battlestar Acheron. And she could hardly wait. Walking into the kitchen, she left a note on the table. Dearest Jenna, Zarena, Elea, and Mr. Kaun:
I have enjoyed being a part of this family for these past years. I wouldn't change a thing about my life or how it has been. Being here has been the happiest times of my life and I will always love all of you. Now that the Misses of the house has returned, and what with the twins all grown up, it is time for me to return to what I am, being a Colonial Marine Officer. I am sorry to inform you in this manner but if I were to do so in person, I would fall apart.
Always know, you will all always be a part of me. I am now going off to report to the Battlestar Acheron.
Wish me luck! When I get shore leave, I promise to come visit Please do not be angry with me-this is something I need to do.
All my love,
Alicia With that, Alicia picked up her bags and walked out the front door, the hummer from the base sitting there waiting for her. Looking back, she couldn't help but to start crying, softly. Noticing the Corporal looking at her, Alicia snapped to him. "Wanna find out how miserable your life can become? Turn around and drive Marine." And without anyone in the house noticing, she was gone. For now.

Bouncing into the kitchen, Jenna noticed the note left by Alicia. Picking it up, she carefully read it. Letting out a scream, she ran to the living room, yelling upstairs to her grandfather and sister.
"Grandfather! Zarena! Come quick! Alicia has left us!"

Running down the stairs, Zarena grabbed the note from Jenna. Reading it, she began to cry. Looking up the stairs at her grandfather, Zarena burst out in sobs.
"Why? Why grandfather? Why would she leave us, alone?"
Looking down at his granddaughters, the old man spoke gently.
"Come now girls, you're not alone. Why, I'm here and your mother is coming home soon and I suspect your father as well. Besides, we all know Alicia's true calling has always been the Fleet and the Colonial Marines. I am certain she will return. She always does. Now, get cleaned up for dinner. Tonight, we feast on Tauron beef pie and for dessert, Aquaria sweet bread. Go now, hurry!"
