The relaxing environment earlier had changed to blizzard white out conditions with neither of them able to see a meter in front of them. Digging out a foxhole and adding a cover, John hated just sitting still but they couldn't what would be in front of them...especially given that they were using a Centurion's body to hold down a corner.
Applying a new bandage to his shoulder, John noticed that Samuel was playing on his tactical pad as he tried to sleep; "I'm only going to say this once, find the volume button or I'll toss outside," here everyone wanted kids but little did everyone know is that he already had one.

Lowering the volume on the screen, Samuel was watching the video from Liam's camera feed as he sat amazed from the level of technology. The original people here had stone buildings and huts yet here was a frakkin manned rocket that a level of technology already beyond them. The radiation levels showed that these people were messing with something they didn't understand...did they bring this planet to a nuclear winter? Everything was spectaltory till they could find more pieces of the puzzle but one side of the picture was clear. This rocket, crude, could only carry so many but they only found a few bodies. Packing in, Samuel had the coordinates in his tactical pad as he looked through the sled to find a hazmat suit. He had packed encase the bodies were diseased or anything else but now he was torn by loyalty or exploration. Turning to John, he woke the old man up as he prepared the sled as well as himself for the trip; "You can nap later old man, we need to go to Liam, I have something that can help."

Reaching into the pack beside him, he pulled out his energy smoothie as he sat up in the makeshift bed as he cut the top off of the can; "A piece of advice, don't have kids and I mean that to heart. You'll never have the energy for them," starting to eat the top of his drink, "and you'll never get enough rest." Slowly eating his drink, he was now going to push himself in an already hospitable environment just to help Liam with his project. He wasn't too worried about Victor since he was a kid that was much more mature than Samuel.

Attaching lights around the craft, Chris could now see the 4 booster rockets with the fins between them but this craft was fascinating. It would take weeks to dig it out then move it back to Defiance for the engineers to salivate over it for the decades to come. Climbing out of the ship and up onto the ice as he turned to Liam who was putting up a cover over the silo; "I hope you used bright colors. Take it from experience that a red X is still difficult to spot in a frakkin blizzard!"
Unpacking the tent, Chris picked up his tactical pad to see a message from Samuel which was a possible solution. Damn Specialist truly packs for everything, honestly, he was surprised that the kid didn't pack an escape pod but maybe it was collapsed. Turning on the infrared beacon, Chris waited for Liam to come down before starting the timer; "Sleep in shifts and having Major Westin move Base Camp here as soon as he wakes up. You have first watch and I'll relieve you in 8 hours."

Finding Maximus, the man died in his sleep from the continuous drop in temperatures and cold cutting him down. Collecting his tags, Jason began fixing the hut by using snow as an insulation which soon made a hole to which he could bury Maximus in. Using the bark of a nearby tree, Jason quickly worked on a fire with the sled forcing it to be directional and providing a thin cap so smoke can escape without bringing in the snow. Igniting the bit of wood, he used the flight log from the raptor as fuel before building up the fire. Placing old Spartan blankets on the ground, he was building protection against him and the ground as he rested against the fire.
His squad had died from the artic and even now he knew this wasn't his end for he knew help was here. Digging through Maximus pack to find old Spartan cookies that were high protein and had a few thousand calories which he needed. 10 cookies and the distant smell of cinnamon which offset the flavor of the cookie since they were typically bland. Eating only half a cookie, Jason hated the taste but he needed the calories especially with the blizzard coming through. Drifting asleep beside the fire, he had tuned himself to listen out for the fire since this was his source of heat through the cold.

4 hours of sleep and 2 packs of fiery turkey sandwiches to prepare himself for the weather and packing up base camp to head to the mountains. Securing the chains around the tires, Tom checked over his coordinates and knew he could take a short trip to the crash site and give that a once over. Covering over the back, he had the radio equipment and infrared beacon in the back while the tents sat behind his seat. Turning on the extra lighting, he started towards the crash site with his senses heightened considering he was driving through a blizzard.
Reaching the faint signal, Tom strapped on his over the shoulder camera before connecting to the network; "Diverted to the raptor, starting initial investigation," carefully approaching the site with his pistol in hand. Noticing the graveyard but empty graves, not all of them died here which was good. The raptor was missing a wing and appeared to be in bad shape with burn marks on the cabin portion. Speaking softly while entering the cabin, boxes littered the floor small casings; "Looks like the raptor took a missile and they engaged something after crash landing."
Checking the pilot, he was burnt from an internal fire but had engaged the beacon only for him to turn it off. Taking the pistol and extra magazine from the pilot to place in his own holster before going back outside to find drag marks; "Diverting to follow a trail," pulling out 2 incendiary grenades to destroy the raptor and the technology on board, "gave the pilot a Spartan burial."

The crash site was aw inspiring that they managed to make it to the surface with a wing and engine gone meaning that pilot fought the controls till the end. The green residue on the snow was fuel that leaked out of the raptor which likely froze due to the temperatures. There was one body that he could see but he was likely binded with the ice and they could recover him when more help arrives. Delta was in route with apparently a hazmat suit which even Liam knew the A.I can only protect against so much. It seemed like even with Michael Martin gone, everyone wanted to fill in the void and honestly he left big shoes to fill even for him. Everyone around Liam was expecting him to step up but it wasn't his time since he's always worked in the shadows. Getting to work digging out the rocket, he had to be extremely delicate since the fuel in the boosters could be quite explosive.

Walking out into the cold, his sunglasses were directing him to the mountain even though he couldn't see anything through the blizzard. Straps from his shoulders and waist were pulling the sled which also was connected to the Colonel. With the SAR mostly pulling back to the mountain, he had seen the projected plans for 2 of the massive crafts. The artic was the gold rush with the amount of intact history here as opposed to elsewhere. Keeping his rifle in hand, he had his ice ax on him just to avoid the same thing that could Bravo off guard. Samuel was exhausted but determined to get to the safety of the mountain before his exhaustion set in.

Driving over the gravel hills, Tom soon dismounted from the truck as he took his gear out with him including his heavy pack and snow shoes. The tracks were straight forward with the slight indention of the sled was being covered over as he walked behind them. Before smelling burnt twigs which meant a small fire was going and it confirmed that someone was out here. He knew from chatter that it wasn't anyone from the underlining SAR mission which meant he was on the right track.
Approaching the hut, Tom set his pack down as he tapped his radio while whispering into it; "I have ice man. Will go live shortly," pulling out two MREs as he warmed them up above the fire while placing bark that he pulled off the trees along the way. Speaking softly but just loud enough to wake up the man, pulling out sporks to eat the beef soups with; "Better not be frakkin dead. Spent a lot of time tracking you down and don't want to use my frakkin body bag."

Sitting up, it had been a while since Jason had seen an actual MRE and surprised that this Spartan tracked him down. Even without knowing the man's name, Jason could tell by his composure and the accent as he sat up to talk to the man; "Body bag might be warmer than the hut." Taking the MRE, the soup was piping hot which was soothing and much better than a cold cookie and it was nice to see a fellow soldier once more. The patch was foreign to him but this was clearly a tracker by trade since he could tell where the rise and drops were. Noticing him setting up a camera, Jason could only guess that this was standard protocol; "You know my name but what is your name?"

Placing the empty packages in the fire, Tom got up as he helped Jason up while putting out the fire. Putting on the snow shoes, Tom started the walk back to the truck; "Got a ride that is faster than walking and a lot warmer."

What else could there be other than ice, trees and the occasional ancient rocket? Even the ruins he found were never completely assembled much like a constructed building that lost funding halfway through. Gathering his gear and the rifle, he kept the hut up with the blanket as a tribute to Maximus and maybe in the future he could do more for his fallen squad. Walking through the snow, the weather here was unprecedented and seemed to not slow down the Major as they made it to the vehicle. Climbing into the back, Jason could tell that they came well prepared as he turned to Tom; "Thanks for coming."

Pulling up to an ice wall, Tom climbed out with C4 in hand as he placed them on the ice but evenly spaced out before returning to the truck. Detonating the ice, the water trickled down but revealed a man made cave as he pushed forward. Flipping on the lights, Tom relaxed but maybe that was too soon as he slammed on the brakes to avoid killing the Picon. Climbing out of the truck, he powered it down as he noticed the rocket; "I find the Colonel and you found a rocket...dibs."

The low engine growl seeped into his dreams with the Eight growling at him till he finally woke up. The lights were shining through his tent with clearly Tom outside which would be enough to wake anyone up even him. Getting up and stepping onto the ice, Chris noticed Liam still digging while he scrambled to put on his gear; "I called dibs when we found it, after all, my ancestors traveled in one of these!" Picking up his rifle only to put on his back, he picked up the tactical pad to see an update; "Mammoth, Olympian, and Rumptious is on route so we're going to have a lot of people here to explore this place. We just need to setup base camp and wait out for the next 24 hours till everyone else shows up," looking around to see the Colonel asleep in the truck, "at least we rescued him."

Listening to music through his earbuds, Liam continued to dig out the ship from the ice but unaware his tactical pad was detecting radiation as he dug deeper before the sound filled the room. Pulling his buds off, Liam saw he was getting a medium dose which meant he had minutes to get to the surface and that meant climbing. Starting up the ice wall, he could hear them unpacking the rope to help him with even the A.I keeping him thinking clearly. Scrambling up the rope, there had to be something radioactive down there as they threw the massive parachute over the hole.
Turning to Chris as Liam started stripping down, he needed to get rid of those clothes and get decontaminated before his worst nightmare set in. Unwilling to discuss this with them, his A.I knew the amount of stress he felt and worked on finding out if he was even exposed.
