Stepping off the massive ship, John noticed that Samuel had a small sled behind him filled with gear and sadly enough he wasn't surprised. He could see bundles of rope, a small solar generator, kits for tents and that was just what he could see. The one thing that did catch his eye was the infrared flares with a small detonator, turning to the Specialist as they walked; "Sometimes I wonder what is going through your frakkin head."
Holding onto his M4 as he walked through the barren landscape, there were no signs of life and it was quiet. The only sound around them was the crumpling sound of snow under their snow shoes and the wind rushing past them. The old maps of Kobol never mentioned the artic so the likelihood that something was hidden here was quite high.

Clipping the sled lead to his pack, he held onto his AUG as he walked alongside John as he dropped a small ball that could analyze weather conditions; "We have a week to find him and honestly plan on living through this so everything on that sled will help," checking over his tactical pad to ensure the scanner on the sled was working. He figured since there was no science team joining them that he might as well take some deep sonar pictures. Watching Tom race by them, he adjusted his watch for the time traveled to represent time much better.

Hiking along the mountain, Jason paused momentarily as he reached Sly's grave and wondered how he died. Rock slide? Hunger? Maybe falling on his own blade? The last one was more likely since Sly believes in that sort of thing...an old Terran ritual that Terran Generals would do to retain their honor after losing a major engagement. Even during his time on Terra, some Generals still follow that ritual. Pulling the tag off of the chain, he crouched as he placed his hand on the grave while whispering; "I'm sorry, brother, you'll never be forgotten."
Continuing on, the rumble of turbines broke through the silence but these turbines must've been to something larger than he's ever seen or heard. His radio didn't last long in the cold and his tactical pad was gone though he still had his infrared beacon. Flipping it on, even he wasn't sure if they could or even would see the damn thing but if he could get a fire going then it would light up his area on the thermal scopes. Continuing into the forest, Jason knew Thrax had sent the help since he saved Jack from Picon mercenaries in the past though he did decline to help him in the past.
Dropping into the forest, he now had to be cautious considering Maximus was really good in setting up trip lines so this place could be one big trap...

The blue ice was mesmerizing with the fractures in the ice but this gave them an opportunity to use their propane burners to refill their bladders. Chipping away at the ice, they pulled out their bladders with the built in filter for contaminants that could cause them harm. Digging into the ice, Chris felt the ice fractured underneath him as if it was weaker than previous thought.
Suddenly without warning, the ice fell from underneath him while he was chipping away but still had his ice ax. Slamming it into the wall, he came to a standstill as he looked up at Liam; "So...um...guess that ice was shallower than we thought."

Surprised to see Chris disappear beside him, Liam stabbed his ax into the ice and rushed to wrap rope around it only to see him only a few feet down. This was definitely man made and could be a way to the top of the mountain. Slowly repelling down to the Picon, they were only 8 feet above the ground below as they both let go only to break through the thin layer of ice and into the water below. Scrambling to the surface, they needed to warm up quickly but all around them was glowing green likely from a fungus that reacted to the oxygen. Stripping down, the two of them rushed to get warm while slipping into the blue uniforms in their pack.

Driving across the crevasse, Tom knew from the aerial photos that this wasn't here before so it was a good half way point. Unpacking the tents, they needed a base camp and according to the GPS he was near center to the glacier portion of the continent. Spending his time setting up the interconnecting tents that easily provides space to twenty men and even a small kitchen filled with MREs which were Kobol fresh. Then he carefully setup the ventilation system which ran off a pair of generators that ran off of high density lithium ion batteries. Placing them on the back of the truck, the backup plan was to use the truck to run the generators past the 7 day battery life.
Pulling out a banner he had packed, he screwed on the golden eagle before putting out the Terra flag with a few LED lights. Placing his sleeping bag into the tent, Tom had the interior at 45° which was far warmer than it was outside. Stripping down his heavy gear, he had to begin setting up the radio gear so they can have both local and long range communication. They needed to have an open dialogue with the General so they could coordinate both reports and operations.

Carefully walking along the stone catwalks, Chris carried his rifle as he pulled out his night vision goggles as they stepped into a far larger cave that must've been at the foot of the mountain. Clipping on his elbow and knee pads, he was more of a Marine than a SF like the rest of them before approaching the massive structure. He could feel dirt under his boot which was odd meaning this area was cultivated at one point but must mean that someone at some point made this to protect against the exodus. Slipping on the goggles, he entered the building to find old copper lines on the floor with busted glass. Flipping on his tactical pad, there was a small radiation level as they checked out each room to find skeletons and old clothing. Whomever these people were, they didn't get the message that everyone was originally supposed to leave Kobol but never did. Attachments:

Noticing food scraps, there was some radiation still coming off of the food which definitely could've killed the person. Holstering the pistol, Liam whispered to Chris as the results compiled from the dating process; "Nuclear fallout killed these people from 2,000 years ago...how did a stone age society make nukes and rockets?" The radiation was low enough not to effect them but this was clearly a bunker so any answers would be here. Kicking open a door that was heading down as they ran down the stone stairs with pistols and helmet cameras on. Any documentation, no matter the language, could be useful and would help uncover the mystery of Kobol.

Running back up to the bunker as he continued his walk before finding a massive shaft leading upward but he had seen this before...in an old silo on Picon. The dimensions worked and it wasn't uncommon to retrofit old silos into something livable. Unpacking the climbing gear, he could see points that could support his weight but the cold could make it slippery. Dropping his pack as well as his rifle, he needed to lose all unnecessary weight while changing out his combat gloves and into climbing ones that increased his grip.

Finally reaching the top, they were at the top of the mountain and had found a perfect spot to setup the radio booster with the dish setup nearby. They now have interconnected networks and communications which meant they could now call out to the General with satellite communications.

Carefully sliding down without burning through his mesh gloves before dropping down beside his gear. Scuffing the ice with his boot, Chris had looked down while attaching his holsters before noticing the nose cone of a rocket below him; "Liam, remember that silo idea...well it could be right on the dot."

Repelling down following a confirmation signal from New Corinth, Liam scratched at the ice with his boot to see the cone of something. Pulling out the kit they were given to boil ice to water, Liam knew this would be time consuming but it could get them closer to whatever was below them. Chipping away at the ice to put in the pot, he whispered to Chris as he put on his thicker gloves with his ax nearby; "The water will help melt the ice but we're to dig into it till we can dig out the cone. Remember your footing and let's prevent an accident." Pouring the water over the area, they began chipping away while adding more ice to the pot to pour over the area once more. The cone was about five feet below them which made sense for the stair in the main hallway that they didn't connect till now. Pulling down their masks to prevent too much exhaling and even prevent the cold water from splashing onto their face since that was dangerous out here. The cone had tons of rivets that is far from common since machine welds had better holds than simple rivets. Careful not to hit the metal, there was an outline of a red bull on the four cardinal sides which linked it to Leonis.

Good thing the rope was long enough cause even 7 feet into the ice this would be difficult to get out if anything goes wrong. The few windows were quite frosted over but going off the size this thing could seat 6 people. Digging out the hatch, this was time to get their respirators and camera to record while connecting their radios to the comm system. Breaking off the handle to insert a crude one, Chris spoke softly as he opened the hatch; "Bravo making entry. We're going to secure than proceed from there," placing his other hand on his pistol as they entered the ship...

Breaking off the handle to insert a crude one, Chris spoke softly as he opened the hatch; "Bravo making entry. We're going to secure than proceed from there," placing his other hand on his pistol as they entered the ship... Entering behind him with his pistol drawn, the tactical pad was boosting the signal as they stepped into the main compartment with a ladder leading downward. No dead and even more no space suits but there was small air canisters seats built into the wall with only one person having CRT screens and an analog board. Dropping glow sticks down, the ladder was a single pole with stepping tabs on it and went down 2 stories. Securing a rope at the top, Liam holstered his pistol to prepare to go down; "Sometimes I hate my job." Slowly going down the ladder, he stepped onto the deck below Chris before helping him down to find racks. Not traditional beds but hanging sleeping bags with wooden boxes filled with bags that felt more organic; "Most likely stomach linings but this was for an extended journey," tapping his radio to connect to the General, "I suggest an engineering team and maybe some Raptors for heavy lifting. "Acknowledge, the Engineering Teams will be awhile but in your opinion, do you believe that ship could be launch ready?"Thinking, that was the true question here as Liam searching the wall only to find wires leading downward. He had been on a conventional rocket a few decades ago before the Colonials had arrived for his Zero G training, much larger than this one but not as comfortable and knew that rocket was centuries ahead of this. Dropping down to the last deck, this was more of a maintenance deck with monitors and sensors everywhere. Finally responding to the man, Liam noticed the fuel gauges read full with 4 additional gauges for something that he couldn't read; "Its a 3 stage rocket. Depending on the fuel as well as the payload," pausing as he thought over it, "it'd make orbit and possibly make it to the Colonies but it's all speculation for now."

Waking up from his nap, Tom had been down to his under garments since it was so warm and now they wanted an airlock. He had one in the truck but was waiting on John and Samuel who were still walking and he felt like he had plenty of time. Broadcasting the location of Base Camp, Tom laid back down before rolling over to get back to sleep. The plan was for John and Samuel to arrive so he could proceed to the Raptor crash to look for the Colonel.
