Receiving a message that had been decrypted, the Artic Expedition was coming to an end with the Mammoth Class ships preparing for takeoff but also the CAP flying over a secondary group. Romo knew Liam was being smart in the sense that the three massive aircraft didn't have room for them and more weight equals more fuel.
Taking a seat at his desk, Romo looked over the map and knew fighting expanded to the southern region but with Daedalus on the move...they could do little to help Liam's team. Calling in the CAG, he could only increase patrols around the AO and hope that they can communicate with the team; "Double our patrols and I'll go ahead and get a tanker out there...break the night rule."

Getting clearance to enter the base, Cameron took back her badge before too much water got into her car. On her way to the base, the sky went from a warming blue to a dark purple thunderstorm with heavy rain and the frequent lightning strike. Following the Humvee to oddly enough General Tyson who had an umbrella in hand for her, odd circumstances since Doctor Bishop usually calls her. Stepping out of the car with her bag and lab coat over her bag while wearing her excercise clothes; "Very usual day so far. Army personnel running me down and escorting me here. How can I help you, General Tyson?" Holding the umbrella for her as they slowly walked towards the cover provided by canvas tightly strung up; "Very unusual indeed. Your presence here is confidential and delicate," stopping briefly while soldiers passed by, "Michael Martin was found in his lightly flooded bathroom in a catatonic state with his wife, Samantha Martin, gone. I need you to evaluate him and see if he remembers anything prior to his previous catatonic state. Now mind you, it has been nearly 15 years since he was in that state before and I was there so consider this a personal favor from me."Listening, that was quite unusual and definitely warranted her time as she walked with him while formulating her words; "Something induced fear in him. I do know hiding things from your spouse could do that but do you have any leads on Mrs. Martin? I'll need a room that is open with two couches and possibly a nurse at the door." Thinking, William didn't want to expand this to outside personnel since it could draw more attention too soon; "I'll be at the door due to security issues but I have gone ahead and suspended all flights due to health concerns. You're welcome to use my office since it has those characteristics but you have a daunting task, Doctor."That she did since Michael was quite hostile before but she now had a specific task but deep down she knew there was more to this. His memories and extreme PTSD put him back on for 84 days especially with his wife mysteriously gone there was no centering factor like before. Walking inside, Cameron had no idea that he was at 80 days to go and a different person than before. Attachments:

Securing Michael to a board, the medics worked on lowering his blood pressure and make him quite lucid with him rambling. Taking a deep breath, the medic injected a compound to knock him out so they could secure him once more. Going through the battery of tests, they took priority to get into the base and soon wheeled him to the Medical Ward.
Placing him under the full body scanner, there was an influx of brain chemicals including those contributed to addiction. The chemical was attached to love which there was evidence that he was holding onto that one thing. Stabilizing him, they put him in gray scrubs and had him escorted to Tyson's office.

William knew that he didn't want to be recognized since even Jack would fight against this decision with many others. Honestly, they were losing public support for the fight west and knew if anything Michael could ensure that they make it to the west and through Ha'La Tha territory. They outnumbered the organization with men and advance tactics...short of the code name he would need a new look. Getting up from the couch, William looked out into the storm that would be heading off the coast; "Shyguy. Your code name is Shyguy. Jon will help you with the new look but just to warn you, he's Hellion and he kinda reminds me of you so you'll do fine. Your task is to push our forces to the West and establish New Queensland. We'll work on the logistics of your team but Kobol Intelligence will make your wife they're primary objective." Shyguy it is. His other call signs would alert everyone on the planet whether it was Bones or Suppressant though the second one was used in the war for his protection. He would have to rely more on a single rifle and act younger than his age but then again Samantha often acted younger than herself. Maybe that void was his last yearning for the fight not against Cylons but this new home. The fight not against bullets but something more primal and in the end a simple home on the West Coast. Not something fabricated but built by hand for them which could be their legacy. Getting up, he paced the office since he knew he could likely run into old teammates who could see through this cloak; "Let's hope Jon has a cloak cause everyone knows I retired." Being ordered in, Jon previously led the Hellion attacks against the Cylons but only succeeded for a few weeks before coming to a dead stop when the Cylons killed his team. Landing on Kobol as a refugee, William Tyson knew by the gear he carried and the way he stood that he was military. For the last seven months, he was leading the Exploration Force before coming to the full stop they were at. Keeping his hands behind his back, he knew that they were getting help from someone not so relatively new; "Michael Thrax, I presume. Shit, we should be gaining ground with you though many are trying to fill the void you left," pulling a chair around for him to sit in, "if you're trying to build a team that's near frakkin impossible."

Asked to return to service, Johnathan had heard of Sam's passing and was given the green light by Evanna to help his brother through this terrible time. They had begun settling into New Delphi and with her on the opposite coast that she was safe there while he got pulled into this scouting mission. Maybe it was the Cylons, maybe they snuck onto the planet but why hide unless it wasn't them...shit more likely something the 13th Tribe left behind. It wouldn't be the first time given the lab, hidden launch sites, and their own inventions at the Grid site even more Kobol thrives on the essence of death. Another reason why some are leaving such as Oliver and Samuel for Colonial tasks that were much safer than staying on Kobol.
Hearing that the Jeep was on base, Johnathan called over Victor who would be caring for them if they got injured. Even more, the kid would be monitoring Michael who was already more injured than the rest of them. The mission would take them into a region even he hadn't been in. Seeing the vehicle roll up, he rested his hands on his hips as he turned to John; "Sorry I missed the ceremony just got here from my flight over. It's terrible that she's gone but she's with the gods now and watching over you and everyone now."
Sad part is that Johnathan never truly believed in the gods but for his brother it didn't matter since it was some solidarity that he could spare.

He watched his future get a traditional ceremony and a ceremonial tombstone where they planned to retire. The black gloves was his way of mourning and he couldn't bury the tears of his dead partner. He didn't have plans to come back from this assignment...what would he be returning to? Terra was gone! His old life gone too. What was left? Hide in the wild and let Kobol tear him to shreds after all she didn't have too much to tear apart. Turning to John, he wrapped her dog tags up in his hand as he tightened his grip feeling it tear into his glove; "Can we move along? The faster we deal with this the sooner I can deal with everything else," his only unsettled business was to find a way to fall on his sword.

There wasn't much to see of the Commander other than his new likeness of black from head to toe. The bits of gray stood prominent but that was likely from the stress he has endured. She was everything to him and that was why he was asked to tag along...short of almost being a son he was also a psychologist by study only. Tossing the crates in the back, he grabbed his personal gear and knew the Commander was getting impatient which could mean anger would be reflected his direction.
Climbing into the back, he knew this was Michael's personal vehicle for panels appeared to be beaten quite harshly out of pure anger. Maybe, another reason his hands were covered to keep them from seeing the bruises. Lowering his hat as the seat reclined, he tapped Jonathan before catching up on some sleep he missed on the flight here.

Death was everything else and the gods are less than willing to take him before but now one sacrifice in unexplored mountain range will be suitable? The gods have plans for all of them and now...seemed like this trip would test him. Taking the dog tag, he placed it inside his vest as he saw his friend's jaw drop to his recent action; "Do not bleed out before we arrive," whispering to him before tossing over a roll of bandages. Leaving the base, the only thing that could be heard was the high altitude Viper flyovers and the horses riding by.

The ride to the surface is mostly uneventful except for the few seconds without power which was consistent with reports both from Terran vessels and Colonial transports. The power outage, a mere three seconds, before battery backups came on. Fixing his navy blue fatigues, Defiance Base was too dusty for the solid black uniform but it was a tactic to make the relic officers more sympathetic to his new position. Stonebridge had served alongside Thrax during the war but that ended when he took up a position in the War College before moving into the Intelligence Division. He knew the old secrets but those secrets meant nothing here for Kobol had her own secrets. The jolt of thrusters engaging, deceleration was in progress, likely the landing gear lowering with the concrete landing pad lifting into position. Touching down, the clamps secured the ship before the underground opened to a massive hangar that the Terrans had built for ongoing defense principal. A principal that Harperson had become dependent thus Terrans have adapted since. The surface work was public but the underground was classified with machine shops and 3D printers building new defense satellites that protected Terra against the Cylons in the past.
Stepping out onto an adjoining bridge, Liam spotted a man waiting for him but couldn't see past him as he spoke to him; "Been here for less than a year and looks like Kobol will have a shield soon."

A shield. Sometimes the shield is more deadly than the sword but as outsiders they were under a microscope with the Colonies. The surface held tens of millions of Terrans with only a million being military but they were tasked to do the impossible which was to rebuild. Terran culture took thousands of years to build with bricks from the early days but Kobol had a culture and now they hijacked it. The 13th Tribe thought like they did and maybe that was enough to hijack with them taking over old sites to learn from their own past. This underground hangar was a project all of his own but one that helped build the mounds along the coast against the storms. Keeping his hands behind his back, Jack turned to Liam as he kept his statue posture; "The orders of the old have no standing on Kobol but consider me your friend." Turning on the lights, the wall behind him consisted of blast proof glass and likely more people on the inside. Tapping a button on his arm, a table and chair rose out of the metallic floor as he took a seat; "How would we go about this task you have?"

The fact remains that exploration of the entire planet was top priority with new outposts and secured fuel sources from the exploration. Pulling out a shard as he set it down to automatically connect to the screen, this was the latest intelligence from Terra concerning the gamma wave and the truth was Kobol is looking like an expensive mistake. The wave was going to be far weaker than expected and the Old Council wanted to begin withdrawal from Kobol but it would be hard to admit this to their allies. Speaking softly, Liam knew much like Jack and others that Kobol gave them and the Colonials hope; "We need to show that Kobol is worth our presence other than being eight months closer to the Colonies. Ruins is only going to go so far but natural resources could bring life to this economy and the landscape with a support infrastructure could encourage the Colonials to come here to live. Cold hard facts are, Terra is going to survive and they're going to need us there to reinstate order but we can be the ones to state how many and who returns home." They came to Kobol to survive but if they don't show any progress this could be framed as an invasion with Colonial politics. The last thing they need is the Colonials as enemies considering they would be outnumbered 5 to 1 even more outgunned even here with the Colonies only a month away via FTL.

The wave intensity was now going to be far weaker with a travel advisory listed for Terra but they needed to clarify this finding. A message could take months even with their secured light based satellites but worth the time. Securing a simple message: Status of Golf Whiskey. Three months for the message to get home and three months for the return which meant trusting this new guy but he had a point. Natural resources could make Kobol a competing market considering finding 13th Tribe technology has been quite explosive since finding it. Walking out from behind the glass, William watched Romo leave for Picon but his years had finally caught up to him with his wooden cane in hand; "Glad you finally showed up, Stonebridge, so you want to go West? You have this massive frakkin plan that you came up with while we've been having ticks on our asses and boxers filled with mud? Kobol has a tendency to kick us in the nuts and you'll learn like we had so what is this elegant frakkin plan of yours?"

Kobol has a tendency to kick us in the nuts and you'll learn like we had so what is this elegant frakkin plan of yours?" Somehow he knew Tyson was nearby but could have never guessed that the old man had become just that but he understood how rough it has been. While he was consulting the home while headed there, he read every report from the first hours to those reports that were so heavily redacted that he had every other word. The issue is that they were going about this with brute force and Kobol is a kicking buck that will respond in force. Even the SFs were just hanging on, yet, everyone was hanging onto the past while he was peaking through a hole to the future. Bringing up satellite view of the planet, their fuel supplies were low with the military hiding the fact that they had dipped into reserves so much so that they were only at an estimated thirty percent meaning they were limited to high altitude flights only. Standing up, he got the last classified report drop before landing and knew the newest Commander on the roaster doesn't fail; "By my estimate, we'll run out of fuel in less than a year which means Kobol will depend on the Fleet and Colonies for resupply. We did find and bring pack animals but with limited breeding and their priority only for military operations means the civvies won't have that luxury. When Commander Martin returns, I'll task him and join him on the Western Campaign which means we'll secure the route and anything we find ahead of researchers even industry. Kobol cannot be completely dead. Kobol was much like Terra at one point so its time we tame the beast with our own beasts," pausing as he stopped pacing, "I'm going to need authority to reactivate a lot of personnel."

Overall fuel supply was a big secret and one they would have to release soon which meant no more massive cargo drops or settlement building till the Atlanta and the Fleet arrives. No telling when that was going to be either considering those Colonials moved at their own pace. He could secure the horses for the expedition but overall supplies was going to be limited to what they could carry in a pack per person. One thing Kobol was great at doing was stealing supplies meant for the military. Rations were strictly for outposts and trips like these while scouts and soldiers were finding out what was safe to eat. Londonium was growing crops but only 30% were for the military with Site Three having to be moved and months behind schedule even then took time for the Colonies mere 40% to come and with no funds it was all credit.
Running his hand through his hair, Jack slid over a clear card with a frosted section holding name as well rank and division standing; "You have authorization but don't go too far. I'll have personnel set aside gear top side with weapons but...you have to talk it over with Mike so um good luck."

Watching the base get busy once more, it was much different than the casual flights out but MPs leaving in armored trucks with binders in hand. Gabriel came back after she left following her sister's death and he didn't want to follow. He wasn't made to sit on a Battlestar and become the cabin boy but Kobol has that charm that Tauron lost. Being the foremost expert on dangerous environments, well, got him passed up on two botched Western trips but third one is always the charm. Laid out in the grass, he was getting back some color over his well defined body but there was more to today. An unmarked transport lands and less than an hour later supplies are being laid out with eight different brands of their bullpup designs. This was similar to a war layout and honestly the Western Campaign was similar to a war considering no one has ventured that direction with campaigns failing each time. Spotting Tom coming in with an armored truck and a General beside him, he needed to go on this mission for he didn't want to remain here.
Approaching the General, he had his orange goggles on to protect his eyes as he spoke to him; "Skilled marksman and I know the desert terrain..."
The man interrupted him with a simple patch, noticing Kobol on it with a rifle and sword as well as 1st Expeditionary Division suggesting this was a new unit altogether.
