Arriving at Defiance, the Colonials here were mostly Caprican and Virgon which surprised even him since both of them had a brash attitude towards each other. Romo was only a two star General but carried a lot of influence in the Colonies. Climbing out of the humvee, the Base Commander had set aside an office for himself and Jack since the other Generals would travel elsewhere. The Raptors were starting to come in with the supplies while the Terrans began to arrive. Setting aside barracks for Bravo Squad as well as training grounds and a briefing room since they would lead Kobol's defense. Romo knew what Lucius was thinking and knew a single team could direct efforts but he wasn't sure about matching the same response without A.I soldiers. Making his way to his furnished office, it matched his prestige but knew he had a lot of work to do to keep bringing help to Kobol. Sitting at his desk, he peered out onto the Cascade Mountains which gave him a perspective on the beauty that the Terrans were preserving.

Waking up in the back to the sound of cadence, this base reminded him of one on Terra during his early SF training. The tanks all properly parked behind a fence with a pair of guards and soldiers running in formation but these weren't the run of the mill Marines. Flags on the arms showed that they were from all points in the Colonies and not Battlestar only. Driving on a designated path, he could see the Mark VII Vipers getting new paint jobs to blend with the surface with the Raptors already with the new paint and combat ready. The massive hangars and ordnance holds that probably held enough munitions to last years. Even the defenses such as the smaller S.A.M (surface air mobile) launchers were built to rise out of the ground at a moment's notice. Parking in the motor pool, Tom knew the vehicle would be decked out and it so happened that Jack had vehicles for them. Well planned and that meant they were never too far from a gun when things got messy. Walking over to his assigned vehicle, Tom was beyond pleased cause for too long he really hasn't been the demolition officer that he was still now. Cabinets in the rear panels held enough explosives to level a small neighborhood and with a fold down turret meant he could hold a spot for a while. Placing his gear into the back seat, Tom headed into the barracks to get a proper night sleep while his A.I admired the new vehicle. Attachments:

Surprised by the sheer size of the base, Defiance must've lived up to the name since the gate was huge and mostly mechanical to hold against the wild. Most of the trees that were here must've been cleared out and appear to make up the barracks and the massive comm tower that had a steel spine. Clamps on the side of the concrete insisted that this was recycled from old Battlestars with the emblems etched off and colors on the opposite side. Each section has a column that has slanted sides to deflect bullets and an automated flak system to keep the airspace clear during a fight which meant a massive underground armory and resupply much like a Battlestar. Glancing over at a SUV, Liam knew it was his since it was low profile like him and could get close without drawing attention. Even back in the day, he was a CQC member and knew it would be outfitted for a close fight. Maybe he can keep the nicotine in the vaporizer after all since his A.I was now seeing a different side of him. Attachments:

Walking up to Bravo Squad, Jack wore his black fatigues as turned to Liam who appeared to be growing a beard; "Its good to see you guys and well the plan is simple," crossing his arms as leaned against the truck, "New Corinth is your city to protect. In order to protect it, you must live in it so in the morning you'll leave for a house I set aside for you all." Patting on the side of the truck, Jack wasn't initially a fan of Lucius plan but this plan offered better defense than having a team stationed at the base. Calling over the Lieutenant, he dropped the tailgate as a briefcase was set down; "Couple million cubits for survival and setting up armories inside the city. Defend your new home," starting his walk back to his office.

Being the first line of defense is a lot to ask since this base was well fortified where the city meant setting traps meant for whenever that day arrives and not before. Being Colonial, Chris wasn't sure what they were expecting for a 4 man team to do against the Cylons. Glancing over at Liam and Tom who acknowledged the responsibility, he followed them inside as he sat down on the couch; "We had thousands of men and didn't even stop the Cylons so what can we do?"

Lying down onto the lower bunk, Liam kicked his boots off as he listened to the Picon Lieutenant and knew Jack had sound tactics. The SFs fought an entire war with teams of 4 and even a low number can make themselves feel like more. Resting his head on his pack that was acting like a pillow, Liam could see that Tom was already asleep; "Back during our war, teams of four stopped one of the largest armies with tactics that were revolutionary. You see 4 men but to the Cylons we might as well be 4,000." Rolling onto his side, he threw a blanket onto himself before chuckling; "A lot we have to teach you, Wrangler, we leave early in the morning," drifting asleep. The speaker on his pack played a recording of the ocean from Terra...a faint reminder of the home they left.

Leaning back in his chair, Jack hadn't slept since moving in and he was still uneasy on how quickly Jonathan left. Hearing the chime on his laptop, Jack leaned inward to the computer screen only to notice a series of beeps and pauses that were recorded but it only lasted for a few minutes with no solid trace. This was old school and overlooked by those analysts since they couldn't confirm the user:
RANGER DOWN...RANGER DOWN...RANGER DOWN...
Rangers. He had been waiting on the arrival of the top Rangers so he can transition from Peacekeepers to Rangers. Honestly, this was his chance to end the SF reign forever. Reading up on the logs, the analysts believe the signal came Artic Continent. Ordering a fly over with a satellite, he knew if there was anyone there that the situation would merit a SAR team to be assembled. Forwarding the request for Delta Squad to be shipped to Defiance; he wanted to put the squads on alert.

Having a great night sleep that soon ended as the lights flipped on, rolling over expecting to see daylight but instead there was Armory Specialists in the barracks. Slowly sitting up in bed, Liam noticed that there was six crates with white backpacks; "What's going on?"
Turning to the Colonel, a Specialist spoke up as he opened the crates for them; ""Delta will be here in a few hours and we're going to retrieve Gabriel Cooper. It's a SAR mission on top priority so get a shower and get dressed."
SAR mission? The General must've found a team in need or something more to pull in two teams for this mission. Getting a quick glance over the BDUs, they were white indicating a snow environment and now even he was cautious. Every SF had artic training but it was also the only element that they fear since everything is working against them.

Looking over the crate, this SAR mission was last minute with high calorie nutrition bars as well as ice axes and bundles of rope. Going in dry, they would weigh a good 30 pounds and then pile on the ammunition and gear...this is going to be a long hike especially given they had spiked boots. Pulling out the snow camouflage BDUs, Tom started to get into the inner wear since the pants and jacket were made for the frigid temperatures with time to put on the boots. Applying the flex screen to the jacket, he pulled out the sock with the lower mask and goggles but he strapped them to the ballistic helmet. The gloves were textured for climbing and the pack was filled with body bags, propane tanks for melting snow and an emergency transponder. Everything here only covered one week and anything past that meant they would ration, turning to Liam; "Artic SAR."

Walking into the barracks with a tablet for them to share, Jack was still reviewing the pictures from the satellite and knew the Rangers could hold on just a bit longer. Handing the tablet to Liam, Jack took a seat on the couch as he started speaking softly; "A few hours ago, I received an old Morse Code message from the Artic. The message came from a Ranger team that is six months overdue so Bravo and Delta Squads will be going in for retrieval. You'll be dropped in via cargo raptor at the shoreline from that point on you have 7 days to find them." Reaching into his pocket, Jack handed over a black case that held an expensive signal booster; "If you find them, setup this on the highest point and it'll connect you back to this base. Remember, 7 days is the limit and any longer you'll be at risk," getting up as he headed over to Gabriel's crate, "Delta will be here in two hours and I'll be retrieving your teammate." Leaving the barracks, Jack headed out to his vehicle as the ping returned from Gabriel's vehicle. He knew the kid could direct their efforts since he was an expert in tracking and had Ranger training. Attachments:

Waking up from a deceleration bump, John sat up from the longer than normal flight as he noticed that it was nighttime. Not much has been said other than boarding the Raptor and coming over here but maybe there was a bigger plan. Getting up, he walked up to the cockpit as he carefully stepped over the sleeping Specialist to look out onto the cleared forest. Looking over the side, John could see a ship flying alongside with them with an old Drex logo flying alongside.
Taking a seat in the spare in the front, John was surprised by the size of the ship which could only mean that General Thrax pulled in a few favors. Watching it land on the runway, the raptor banked to land close by to a hangar. Getting up, he headed out to see Liam waiting for them; "Bring me up to speed. I just saw our new ride land."

Hearing that the new ship was coming in, Liam peered out to the Behemoth with it unloading the arsenal. Apparently even the General changed his mind and maybe for the best. Raptors are limited by what they can do and burn a lot of fuel but the Behemoth is atmospheric. Given the range of the ship, going to the artic was a good hop away and probably a drop of fuel since he heard rumors that these ships were in charge of mid air refueling. Walking over to the hangar to greet Delta, Liam chuckled as he grabbed the packs that Samuel made up for them; "Yeah, one of 12. Apparently, a science team wants to research the ice to find evidence of the original exodus so who are to say no." Attachments:

That's one part about his survival training that he hated and now it was time to return to the ice box. Walking out of the hangar with him, John spoke up as the base lit up with activity; "Didn't really get the briefing but I'm also a few guys down so, why in the hell are we going to the artic? Last time I checked, there isn't much down there except for ice, snow and the occasional animal."

Crossing his arms, Liam knew no one was a fan of the artic, shit, even he wasn't since he fought the old war in the artic. It was so cold that the bullets froze in the barrel causing discharges and killed more soldiers than the frakkin Spartans did. Advances in technology now prevent that from happening and now they would be testing that in the artic. Speaking to the Colonel, he knew the facts and knew even with the Behemoth that it would be a challenge; "Six months ago, Jason Chase and his men crashed in the artic. We don't have an exact position but General wants to wait till we have the Tauron back..." He could tell right off the bat that John disagreed with the General and was content on rescuing his old Commander.
