Ordering some appetizers, he found drinking on an empty stomach was a terrible call in the long run. Taking a sip as the chips and salsa arrived, he took a chip in hand as he dipped it into the salsa. His connection with Tauron was a tenuous one, there was nothing there for him and no one but stayed cause there was nowhere else to go. The only reason he traveled to Terra was for the eye surgery but he left for a dying planet that required a lot of work. Clearing his throat, he took another bit of beer as he rubbed his hand on his left pant leg; "There really isn't anything. I was married at one point, she left before I went to Terra and I came back to nothing. Other than being home, it's a reminder of what happened and rather make new memories." His previous marriage was that of an arranged marriage that is a rare custom on Tauron and went as well as one could expect. Releasing from his past, he knew that Samantha must be on Kobol since last reports have Michael here; "No more about my past, after all, you've probably seen more than me. Never figured you were the type for a dark brew beer." It shouldn't have been much of a surprise that he was married before. But judging from the tone, and wanting to move away from the subject, she could assume that it ended badly and just leave it at that. Whatever had happened, she regretted that it seemed to leave a hole in him. Demetria had never been married, and couldn't put herself in Gabriel's shoes to know how it felt for someone to walk away from what many considered to be a lifelong bond. But that didn't make her feel any less bad about it. "To new memories, then." Picking up a chip, she nibbled on it, thinking back to her own life before the fleet. After leaving Sagittaron to relocate to Virgon, she'd spent the majority of her childhood following closely at her mother's side, in the hopes that she'd one day take the woman's place running one of the research facilities, something gifted by a father who could rarely show his face. It was a sore subject, one that wouldn't be brought up now especially. It wasn't about the past for them, but rather a fresh start; an open book with blank pages. Looking down at her glass, she picked it up to take another sip, turning her focus back to him. "The dark beer here reminds me of the stuff back home. Tastes nearly identical to Virgon Brew. But pick your poison, they have anything you could ever want," she smirked, taking a moment to look over the items on the menu. Asking for a bottle of Ambrosia, Gabriel could feel his watch vibrate and he wanted to get through this date as he tapped his watch twice to send a prerecorded message. Turning his attention to her, Gabe knew he ruined the mood with his past but he could still salvage it; "Been to Virgon, very beautiful world and I can see that beauty here," watching the waitress set down two shot glasses and the bottle of ambrosia, "here, its from a Tauron distillery," pouring the two shots for them, "I think the one thing I want isn't on the menu though I am going to work for it." Thinking back, Gabriel never had a guided path but one that was changed by his father's actions and led to an arranged marriage. His father used to be a great defense lawyer but his schooling and majority of his career was paid by the Ha'La Tha organization. That changed when Gabriel was four, his father couldn't save one of the bosses and lost everything even got put in a wheelchair. To save the family, they setup the marriage between them and a connected minister...only if they knew the end was just around the corner. Putting in an order for Caprican chicken alfredo, Gabe downed his shot before pouring a fresh one. Speaking softly, he knew she was probing his past so it was time for him; "So obviously you never married since your earlier expressions showed that you were trying to relate. So what gets you to open up to someone? What's your favorite thing in the universe?"

Now seemed to be there perfect time, though, as she could feel her cheeks beginning to redden when he spoke. "The best things always take work, or so I've been told." Smirking, she lifted her glass to her lips, letting the strong green liquid burn as it went down. It was hard to deny that she wasn't becoming more intrigued as the night progressed. Finally settling on the broiled fish with special seasonings from Aerilon, she handed the menu off before turning her eyes back to the man as another drink was poured. "Beer, or this stuff, should do the trick. Though you seem to be doing a pretty decent job yourelf," she began, chuckling before she drank half of the shot. Things like this didn't come easy to a person like her, someone who kept to themselves after leaving everything behind. Demetria pondered his question, thinking back to the things she hadn't realized she missed until being here, where there was fresh air and life. "Being here made me remember how much I missed the peace of nature, or having books, music. Simple things. It's easy to forget all of that when there's no view from space." She remembered being with her mother on each research trip, keeping her own book to collect leaves or flowers or anything else they passed on their travels; bringing back whatever she could find and carry to the camp, much to her mother's amusement until it came to animals. "What about you?"

Even in school, he got higher test scores than his fellow students but only cause his father believes that the smarter man lives longer than the average Colonial. But honestly, he saw through his father's bullshit and saw him trying to setup his son to fill in his shoes as he spoke softly; "I left home at 16 for training on Scorpia. So much green and the mountains just something you don't see on Tauron. I went back years later, just never looked the same but sure I can find a new view," smiling at her as he ordered Picon whiskey. Laughing a bit at her comment, true the best things do require the most work but this didn't feel like work. No this was much better than work since it was much entertaining since she was reading him while he was doing the same. Alcohol was slim on Tauron, fragile in some places and still being salvaged from the ruins. Clearing his throat, the aroma of the food around them filled the room as he spoke softly; "From what I understand Kobol has a lot to offer so who knows might be able to help you go outside the city. Maybe see more than just the buildings and blue sky." Kobol reminded him of all the Colonies that he's been on he could see pieces of it here. Though, everything that he had seen from the Raptor reminds him of Scorpia and definitely beats wearing a respirator.

In a way she sympathized with him, having to leave home at an early age to begin a new life in a strange place. It had very little effect on her, though Sagittaron would always be in the back of her mind. The mountainous terrain and people might have drawn her back one day, if it weren't for the overly religious hypocrites and lack of stability that came with living there. It was a failing colony when they left, she could only imagine how things were there now with the people still attempting to rebuild and grow. Refilling her glass with Ambrosia just as their food arrived, Demetria smiled and took a sip. "If we left the city, I'm not so sure I would want to come back," she chuckled before taking another sip from the glass. When the transported had landed, she couldn't help the feeling of unease and worry that took over and spread like wildfire. She'd come to find her sister and somehow ended up staying for a different reason. It could have been the change of scenery, the fresh air and thrill of a new place, or even Gabriel's presence; a part of her wondered when something would go wrong. "Unless you have something to keep you here, I see no reason not to go."

As far as he knew, he was here to explore and help the Terrans uncover the secrets of Kobol but he had a style far different than their own. His day had radically changed from a simple cup of tea to finding Demetria and rekindling something he felt on Terra. Even Terra felt like a distant memory as he slowly started eating the alfredo; maybe even here, the gods work in mysterious ways and even now he had never been this smooth of a talker. Switching from ambrosia to water, water allowed for the spices to interact instead of being drowned out by the alcohol. Taking a second, he spoke softly as he pulled out the napkin to clean off his lips; "I've spent time around ruins on Tauron and the Terrans want to understand Kobol so hired me. The only difference between the city and the outside is that there is a requirement to carry a gun but it'll be fun." Watching her carefully navigate through and around the fish, the fish itself is likely locally caught which means just the traditions made it viable. Tauron is the old home that left its scars but maybe Kobol was his new home.

Setting aside her own half consumed glass of ambrosia, Demetria instead poured a small glass of water to accompany the food. Enjoying the aroma as she neatly picked through the vegetables, she took a moment to consider his words, wondering curiously how long combing through ruins would keep him here. The last planet she had been on was Terra, and that was quite a while ago, with no hope of returning to what once was now that the planet was gone. For the moment, she was in no hurry to leave Kobol, for more reasons than one. "So you're here to work after all." Patting her mouth clean, she picked up the glass of water and brought it to her lips before offering a smile. "I suppose they're wondering where you ran off to then." If they managed to get the planet scouted and settled enough, withstand and support the incoming masses of people that wished to migrate there, was it wrong to consider being there too or trying to make a life? Kobol seemed like paradise, yet she held tight to the fear that one day it would end up just as the Colonies did, and it would have all been for nothing.

Honestly, he hadn't really thought about the team since seeing her again and well he knew General Thrax was contacting him but it didn't seem to be at the top of his agenda. Though, he has heard of the wildlife issue at night and at the moment braving through her questions was better than sitting in the jungle with his rifle. Speaking softly, he could see that she was more likely to finish off the bottle before him and here he figured she would remember everything as a blur; "Working during the day is easier and technically I don't start till tomorrow." Finishing up the alfredo, it had reminded him of one he had on Caprica following his trip back from Terra. Taking the bottle away from her, he figured if she was like her sister then he might end up carrying her out and at that point it might be safer for him to sleep on the couch...the couch was quite comfortable the last time he was there though a lot of things are comfortable in a towel. Pouring a small shot glass before having the waitress take the bottle away but kept it on the table. One thing he knew for certain, the sunglasses would help in the nighttime which was the one time his eyes were at their worst. Leaning back, he wasn't particularly watching her but everyone in the restaurant and knew everyone was migrating to Kobol for a new beginning. Speaking softly, he had more than just archeology but also a skills he expanded on; "If I was at work right now, I'd be missing out on someone that made my trip to Terra much better especially given I just regained my eye sight. It's probably safer that I'm here given as much alcohol you've had and I would feel like shit if I left you to disappear for work."

"I haven't had that much," she smirked, nudging away the remainder of her meal before patting her lips clean. Demetria waited and watched as the waitress began the clean up process, starting with the bottle of booze. Reaching for the glass of water, she leaned back in her chair, eyes turning to focus on the man across the table. "If you had disappeared, I would have missed out. And you would have likely missed out on the chance to see me make a fool out of myself," she laughed softly, finishing what remained in her glass. In truth, she had never been much of a drinker, even at her worst when her mother had passed away. It had hit her more than she let on, but her mind seemed more clear than ever since landing on Kobol. While the restaurant slowly began to clear out, she found herself curious; while she combed through the city in search of her sister, we'd likely be out there beyond the walls, seeing all of the things on the planet that she could only imagine. Demetria had seen her own fair share of sights throughout her travels with her mother, but Kobol was something entirely different. She had a naturally curious mind, the need and wanting to see every single thing that made the place unique. "Maybe I should give up standing in the CIC and join the flock, call this place home one day." She smiled at the thought, though a few more glasses of Ambrosia would probably solidify the idea.

Chuckling, this night was definitely something more than he could imagine though he was surprised that he hadn't made a fool of himself. Sipping on his water, he listened to her and knew Michael was probably exploring like everyone else. This place encouraged exploration with the many sites and just purely the unknown which most places don't have. Setting down cubits to cover the bill, he was prepared to take a shot in the dark; "Honestly, standing around on a Battlestar sounds boring especially when there is so much to do here and there are perks," maybe a lead up to his shot in the dark. Getting up, he glanced down at his watch which had a readout on his alcohol level but turned his attention to her. She may be tipsy or a bit drunk but he was almost there and knew the car had auto pilot that might come into use; "Got an old bottle of ambrosia back at my place and some of this cheesecake, something Terran I think, and maybe checkout this place to why your sister likes this place." Having the key fob in his pocket, he tapped the ignition knowing that the car started up but hoped that the darkness didn't affect him.

Pulling out more than enough cubits to tip their waitress, Demetria stood from the table slowly, taking the time rather than losing her balance and fall to a heap in the floor. It was a shared opinion that the place had more to offer than a life on a ship, something she’d never seen herself doing until a few years ago. It wasn’t something that she’d spend her life doing. Whatever perks came with being there, it was enough to bring a smirk to her face as she looked at him; the mention of ambrosia had immediately gotten her attention. “I suppose I can’t say no to an offer like that, considering you’ve gotten me addicted to the stuff.” Laughing, she took a few small steps forward to hold an arm out to him, whether it was for his benefit or her own. “Maybe you can tell me about these perks while you’re at it too,” she smirked as they made their way out.

Taking her arm, Gabriel was cautious about her walking as he scooped her up in his arms since it was easier than taking the chance. He knew he surprised her but this was honestly safer than her attempting to walk to the car, though, he was also trying to gain more points with her; "The car for one and a bigger flat than that room in the inn with a bit more security. Also, the Terrans are a lot more relaxed so less of them bothering you as opposed to the CIC." Walking out to the car, he waved his foot at the passenger door to open it before setting her inside. Heading over to the other side, he was going to rely just on the auto pilot since his eyes couldn't differentiate the darkness and the curb. Sitting down in the vehicle, he had the car take off as he turned to her; "As a person that drinks, you're sure a light weight though that might change."

The sudden change from walking to being lifted into the air the air certainly caught her off guard, a rosy shade covering her cheeks as they were soon settled into the car and moving down the street. The flashing of street lights overhead worked with the ambrosia, clouding her mind so that everything they passed seemed to be a blur, though she still managed to have her senses about her for the time being. While she thought back to what he had said, it occurred that she had never really considered what she might be doing if she wasn't serving. If she wasn't a pilot, or working in the CIC, it opened up the idea of finding more here. "To be honest, I'm shocked I don't drink regularly," she chuckled, readjusting in her seat to look at him. Many of the officer's spent their down time in the ship's bar, knocking back beer and shots like it was water, while she stayed tucked away in her quarters with books or whatever else she could find to occupy her time. It wasn't for lack of trying; each time she had tried with her sister ended in the blonde losing her cubits and a little pride. "But it could change now, and I blame you." She smirked, leaning forward slightly as the car took a sharper turn and closer to their destination.

She smirked, leaning forward slightly as the car took a sharper turn and closer to their destination. Keeping his hands off of the wheel, Gabe resisted the urge to go for his sunglasses though it's always nice to break from the norms. Switching his watch off, Gabriel spoke softly as he smirked to her statement; "I take that blame considering at least its drinking with someone rather than alone," he had been guilty of drinking alone when he was blind. Feeling the car slow down, his watch had access to the locks as it parked itself on the curb. Putting on the sunglasses so he could differentiate the curb and the darkness as he slowly got out of the car and headed over to her side. He didn't want her to challenge herself with the stairs as he helped her out of the car before lifting her up once more. The car locked behind him as he pulled off his watch to his lower hand. Whispering to her, he knew as dates went it was better than his entire marriage and that was saying a lot; "Honestly, night has been far more exciting than just a simple boring day and something we both need I suppose."

Walking out of the building, he placed his vest and rifle into the back of the car against the slip resistant cargo floor. Slipping back on the watch, he was careful with it since it was a prototype never built and one he found in the vault. It would've changed the Terrans but instead buried for being radically different but for him it was better than a blocky tablet. That could be the same reasoning for why he likes Demetria, she's different than the small pool of women he knows and she likes adventure. To come to Kobol for R&R, she probably was looking for her sister but this place is untamed and often pulls one into an adventure.
Opening the door for both her and Apollo, the sense of adventure was with him as well. He was here, the home of the gods, helping to expand their knowledge on this mysterious world. The ruins could have that answer and maybe explain who lived in this region. His watch had informed him that the others were in the artic tracking down the origins of the 13th tribe while he figured out the origins of simpler matters. Speaking softly, he knew they could make the most of the day; "If they can track down your sister then maybe we can have dinner or what not with them."

Speaking softly, he knew they could make the most of the day; "If they can track down your sister then maybe we can have dinner or what not with them." Settling into her seat, Demetria waited until the car was moving away from the safe house, taking a moment to gaze out the window at the passing buildings, people carrying on with their lives as if nothing had happened and their home hadn’t been lost. She admired their, remembering the feelings she harbored about having to leave home. But that was the beauty of Kobol. It was new to them, offering the opportunity to be more than the Colonies were. “Let’s hope they are in the mood to receive visitors.” Looking over at Gabriel, she smiled nervously only to mask it with a short chuckle. “You Taurons can be stubborn and hot headed, and I would prefer to stay on her good side, if that’s possible.” Smirking, she didn’t know her sister as well as some of the others did, but knew that being here was something she clearly had to do. She wouldn’t lie and say that it didn’t make her nervous or wonder, but it was less worrisome that she didn’t have to do it alone. Having him there had turned out to be a welcomed surprise. “Maybe she had it right, though. Disappearing for a while doesn’t seem like a terrible idea.” She assumed it was some sort of effect from the planet, perhaps drawing her in with the idea of exploration and more.
