Carlie was seated in the Mayor's office when the explosion happened. Fortunately, the office was in the rear portion of the building and was shielded from the explosion. She listened to the voice of the Terran military officer and was partially secure in knowing the planets own defense forces were responding to this tragedy, and not just the un-invited Colonials. Still, at least the Colonials were here to protect the entire planet. Glancing at the Mayor, Carlie decided since the mayor was busy, she would respond to this Terran General.
"General Cotter, this is Carlie McPherson, the Terran Representative. I am here with the Mayor and she apologizes for not replying to you Sir. We are safe, this part of the building was shielded from the explosion. Rescue crews are on the scene, with more arriving by the minute. We can use all the people you can spare General."
Carlie walked to the only window in the office that still had glass and looked over at the rest of the building, or what was left of it. She knew there wouldn't be many survivors. She continued to speak into the speaker phone.
"General, any idea who did this? This sure doesn't fit the way the TLF operates. We'll be coordinating rescue efforts from here General. For now, I am going to go and see about bringing in resources from other areas of the planet."

The commander as changed all his defense codes as well as I. I suggest you call the President asap about this, there coming after us to get to the Atlantia."

The days that had recently passed felt to Clayton like Colonial days aboard Galactica, Acheron, and the Battlestar he'd retired from Atlantia. This new tactic of the Cylons made no sense. Their normal attack was an ovewhelming nuclear assault. That is how they attacked the Colonies as well as Earth. This was simple terrorism. It wasn't very effective, though. It only hardened the inhabitants against the invaders.
The identities of the bombers was the most unusual part of it. They were not the original models, but new ones. If these are the new models, they've come down a notch. Dualla did not have a high opinion of these new humanoid Cylons.
A mixed group of Terran fighters screamed overhead. The pilot in Clayton yearned to be up there with him, but the tactician knew that it wasn't a practical idea. Integrating him into the Terran forces would require valuable time, and he had been pressed into service by the Terran government on the ground. He had done some good with the anti-missile forces. Terra was better prepared than the Colonies or even Earth. The people who settled here brought the lessons learned and built a respectable defensive network. He was able to use his experience to help refine and develop it into a world-wide network that was connected yet independent enough to avoid the kind of virus attacks that shut the Colonies' defenses down.
He knew that he would never return completely to retirement now. There were days when he felt like he had never left the Fleet. Today was one of them. At most, he could still build new careers and act as an adviser on the side. Even now, the Mayor's assistant was peppering Dualla with questions and demands, all in 'the name of the Mayor'.

Carlie was still trying to figure out what had happened when more explosions could be heard in the distance. Looking out a blown out window, Carlie saw the raiders flying by, followed closely by Terran fighters. She smiled briefly, then regained her thoughts and headed to the stairwell, determined to get to a safer spot. Hearing the cries of the wounded, she reached over to help a young woman get to her feet.
"Steady girl, I got you. Here, we'll take the stairs. I'm sure the rescue people are already on their way up. My name is Carlie, what's yours?"
The woman looked up at Carlie, mumbling a response.
"Javan, Javan Lamotte. I work in the Public Services office. They're all dead there now, all dead!"
Carlie helped steady the woman as they began their descent from the third floor to the first. Carlie was hoping the fire and rescue people were in fact on their way up.

As Officer Grant Macklin, Terran Police
Heading up the stairs of the Mayoral building, Officer Macklin suddenly found himself looking at two women who were slowly coming down the stairs, slightly dirty and disheveled. He stopped and called to them, his flashlight shining down at their waists.
"Are you ladies allright? Here, let me help you get her to the lobby."

The sight of the fighters chasing the Raiders made Clayton's hands twitch as if they were on the controls of his old Hammerhead. Gods, he missed that plane! It was like riding a bicycle.
A small missile struck nearby, and the concussion threw Dualla to the ground. Are they out of standard nukes? Have they lost access to the fissionables? Tylium did not make for a good nuclear bomb as it was too slow and stable in its fusion reaction. They needed uranium, plutonium, to trigger the heavy hydrogen of thermonuclear weapons. This could tell them something important about the Cylons, and he had to pass that on.
If he didn't get killed first.

"Hello anyone in here?"
*Shout as I jog up the step's not before running into the Mayor and one Colonel Dualla and a young lady*
"Well under better circumstances it's nice to meet you Madam Mayor. Well hello again Colonel, I better be getting you all to the safe zone. Was there any others with you McPherson?"

"General,"
Clayton had briefly met Odin Cotter soon after his arrival on Terra. He had read enough reports and heard enough about the mistrust the Terrans had shown the Colonials. Since that time, Dualla had been 'drafted' unofficially by the city to assist. It was an advisory role, not an active military one, and he wondered if Cotter knew that. Probably.
"How will that be done, General?" He knew how the man used a flying cycle to get around. There definitely wasn't room on that vehicle for any passengers.
