Phineas sat in his office, most likely for the last time. Already, raiders were flying overhead, bombs being dropped here and there but no nuclear explosions. He sat there, wondering what exactly the Cavils were up to. Why not drop nukes and get it over with? Then it hit him! The cylon empire needed this planet, needed it because of the hundreds of thousands of new cylon-human hybrids that the Simons had been working on for years and the fruits of those labors had finally reached the stage to be introduced into cylon society. In other words, they needed a planet that was habitable for humans. They needed to be able to grow food-crops, livestock-on a mass scale, just as the humans do. Phineas smiled, knowing this went against the Cavils desires. Well, that would be the empire's undoing, allowing the humans-colonials and terrans-to survive, rebuild, fight back. There were over a couple billion terrans and already several hundred thousand colonials, the result of proper diets and plenty of sexual activity. Phineas knew he had to get out of here in the event centurions mange to land in the city. He was after all, President of the Colonies, a job he took serious. He had a few last orders to send out before leaving the building and heading to the off-site bunker to continue the government. Hurriedly typing on his keyboard, Phineas began the first of a few presidential orders. From: Office of the President
To: All Colonial and Terran Military and Government Units
Effective immediately, the office of the Secretary of Defense-Colonial Government, is hereby abolished. The reason for this action is the position has been compromised by the actions of a rogue individual and that the Fleet has effectively been managing itself ever since the destruction of the 12 Colonies of Kobol.
This action has no bearing on the current holder of that office, Commander Yogi of the Battlestar Atlantia. Commander Yogi has performed his duties in an honorable and professional manner.
Signed,
Phineas Doral President, 12 Colonies of Kobol at Terra [/b][/color]

Clayton examined the armored vehicle with his engineer's eyes. He saw a lot of elements that he recognized, though they were in different configurations on the old Colonial Land Rams. He was sure that there would be exotic systems that were hybrids of Colonial and Cylon technology, and even offshoots that couldn't be called one or the other. Nothing was 'out of this world', though. He would be interested in learning more, which he probably would, if this was their mode of evacuation.
He could have assisted with McPherson, but Cotter had medics in the squad that poured from the APC. He would only be in the way. He let himself be checked over by a corpsman, and when it was determined that he was unhurt, he was told that he could take a seat in the back. He looked up at the fighters overhead, the Terran ships as well as occasional Raiders. It still perplexed Dualla as to why they had not sterilized the planet. Thinking to what he knew of Cylons, he was certain that there was a purpose. He remembered the installation that Wagner and Donovan had gotten into, then nuked. Then he remembered the Cylon world that TwoPair had promoted him to Major just so he could operate the nuclear keys in concert with the Colonel. There were horrors of experimentation on that world as well. If the Cylons set up shop on Terra the way they had on other planets, people here may wish for nuclear holocaust instead of what they would be subjected to.
He had to share his experience with someone, now that it had become clear to him why Terra was not being seared clean of life.

*Escorting the mayor and the Colonel to the Apc, heading up the ramp as I nod to the soldier's then to Keira Stokes as she then starts to rise the door*
"Good were all in, ok Colonel get us out of here and to command"
*The command is being held at the local high school, soon after the Apc makes it way down main street. Heading left then right through some craters and weaving past raider parts.*
"Sorry for the bumpy ride we'll be there shortly. So Colonel to what brings you down to Terra, last I heard the Atlantia was headed away from Terra. Through to be fair your Commander did warn me about this attack, which is why were prepared and driving the Cylons back as we speak.

As Delilah Concordia (NPC)
Delilah stood there, watching the terran soldiers and police working to assist the emergency personnel evacuating the injured people from the municipal building. She watched as Carlie Mcpherson and several others were placed into one of the terran military vehicles. Since the Mayor had been killed in the explosion and Carlie was a terran government official, she had been named acting mayor until the deputy mayor could be located.
Delilah had the distinction of being the director of public services in Corinth, making her the only surviving senior municipal official. Looking at a terran soldier, she called out to the young man.
"Hey, we need to get these people moving faster. This building is unstable and it's going to be a little while before we can get any heavy equipment in here to stabilize this place."
The young soldier looked at her and nodded, prodding the survivors to the waiting emergency vehicles and military trucks that would take them to the recovery area.

As he sat in the back of the APC, Clayton thought about who he could speak to. He needed to get in touch with Terra's hightest leaders. He didn't want to go through channels, up the ladder. He needed to speak to the top officials NOW. To go through normal protocols would take too long. He had to share his experiences and his theory. It would be encouraging to tell them that Terra was not about to be nuked, but the alternative was in its own way as frightening a prospect. He reached out and grabbed the arm of one of the crewmen. He didn't want to say too much and spread more alarm than was already present, but he had to get to the top immediately.
"I need to speak to the leaders. I've got some important information I have to share, and it can't wait." The soldier looked at him.
"Colonel Dualla, with all due respect, we have a chain of command. I'll let the squad commander know." Clayton looked at his name tag. He curled his last three fingers like a fist and put his thumb and index finger together, which he pointed.
"Okay, Merrins, you do that, but when the Cylons are crawling all over this planet, I'll make it a point to tell let the government know that it was you who held back the information that might have saved them!" Clayton was in no mood to play games, so he became for a moment the Colonial Colonel again, speaking to a subordinate.

As Holly Bali (NPC)
Holly stood there in the medical tent, looking at the wounded streaming in on their own or being brought in by medics. She wondered how someone, even the Cylons, could attack a civilian building. She was covered in dirt and blood, she was tired and she was hungry. Still, she had a job to do and do it she would. Walking to the most recent arrival, she looked at the name tag that had been placed on her-Lindsey Mohan. She smiled at the woman.
"Linsey, my name is Holly and I'm going to take good care of you. Now just lie there and relax and everything will be just fine, okay?"
Holly grabbed some gauze that was sitting in an antiseptic solution and began to clean the woman's left arm, preparing to insert the IV needle to begin fluids before she went into shock. Finding the vein, she inserted the needle into the woman's arm. Adjusting the flow of fluids, Holly began to check vital signs. Looking around, she saw that more Colonial medical personnel were arriving. Thank the gods for that she thought to herself.

Judith finally arrived at the Municipal building. Staring at the carnage and destruction, she wondered how many had been killed. Her attention was suddenly drawn to the loud voice of a man, a man sitting in the back of a military vehicle. Walking briskly over to the vehicle, she stuck her head inside.
"Excuse me, I'm Judge Judith Schwein, of the Terran courts. Did I hear that you are a Colonel, a Colonial officer, and that you have important information for someone in charge? Colonel, I may just be the highest and senior official available, if you've got time?"

Clayton turned at the voice and regarded the speaker. She was a woman several years older than he. By the way she carried herself, her body language, Dually could expect her to be no-nonsense in her robes. Probably a bit ascetic. He doubted that he'd enjoy a case she was presiding over. He had seen her face on the video wireless. He turned fully and stepped over to her.
"Your honor, I'm Colonel Dualla, Colonial Fleet, retired. I do have some observations regarding the nature of the Cylon attacks."
Clayton was at a bit of an impasse, though. If he broadcast far and wide what he knew to be true, it would cause more panic than the populace was already experiencing. If he kept silent until he got to the top of the ladder, he may not live that long. He had to decide, and quickly.

Listening to the Colonial officer, she quickly surmised that this man was not someone she could easily intimidate. At this point though, she was not in the mood to do anything of the sorts. Waiting for him to finish, she then spoke.
"Colonel, General Cotter is the person who should hear this but I would like to tag along if you don't mind"?

Eyebrows bobbed on the bald head.
"Your Honor, General Cotter just dropped me off here to find the leaders on my own. So here I am."
Clayton was a little concerned that the judge seemed to know so much. She may have her network of spies, but he was still a newcomer here, and he didn't have his Colonial resources anymore. He could surmise from experience what the Cylons were doing, she could not. The people on this world had sought to avoid the Colonial-Cylon struggle. Sure, their government would have it's own intelligence network, but this woman was not a Supreme Court Judge and wouldn't be privy to high-level intelligence. He shrugged.
"If you're going to tag along, it may be just us for some time. If you're all there is of the government, what's next? Unless you know where their secure underground base is?" Dualla knew they would have a protected center of operations. Carter was a surface general. The real bigwigs would be below. Let's see if she knows that.

Judith was a bit taken aback by the tone of the Colonial officer at first, but she soon realized his position here was sure to be a bit untenable. Although she was aware of some aspects of what was happening, she sure as heck didn't know it all. Looking at the man, she tried to smile.
"Well, since the disappearance of Miss McPherson, I guess that places me as the senior Terran official. And what with the President having been shuttled away to safety, that REALLY puts me in a bind. I do know this much, we need to evacuate the cities, get the civilians to safety. The only place that they can be taken to is the old Terran shelters way up north, in the restricted zones, the frozen zones. The shelters were never fully abandoned, just in case of such a need. I'm worried though with so much traffic heading there, we'll just attract the attention of the Cylons. Do you have any suggestions Colonel? Too do it by surface transport will take too long, at least for those in Eresea and the island states."
Judith was used to running a court room, not a government. Still, protocol and continuity procedures called for her to step forward and take the reigns of government where and when needed. Fortunately, there were many others elsewhere who were sharing the burden across the rest of the planet.
"I'm sure general Cotter can arrange for the Terran military to provide most, if not all, the transports we need. I just hope the damn Gondawans don't throw a fit for us flying over their sacred territory."
Judith already knew they would, and that they would cause trouble in the process. It couldn't be avoided with the Gondawans for some reason. It was in their nature ever since the Colonials had returned years ago.

Clayton crossed his arms. The judge had good points, but the crux of the matter was, who was going to initiate and carry this out?
"I'm sure that General Cotter could, but who is going to give them those orders, and is he going to listen to them? If the President and the rest of the planet government have buggered out, we're left on our own here." It wouldn't surprise him if they top politicos had already decided which cities they were willing to sacrifice in order to keep the Cylons at bay, not that it would accomplish anything. They wanted the whole planet, and he wasn't about the let himself become one of the expendables. He'd left that when he left the Fleet, and he wasn't ready to take the mantle back up yet. At least, not for any strategy that was doomed to failure.
Ah. Gondwana. Doctor Elea. He had good memories of his dealings with her. The Judge had it right, though. They were very strictly religious to their ancient rites, and they had come to this planet in part to be able to observe them unhindered by others. Well, the Cylons - the other Cylons, not the thirteenth tribe that the Gondawans were - had upset the whole thing.
"They'reevery bit as much at risk as the rest of us. Their part of the planet is probably more desirable than the developed regions. We can deal with their unhappiness later - if there is a later for us all."

As Francis Drake, Terran government worker (npc)
Rushing up to the Judge and the man standing there with her, Francis was out of breath. Stopping and bending over to catch his breath, he held out a piece of paper to the judge. Shoving it in her hand, he stood upright.
"Sorry judge, I've been looking all over for you. The Cylons are landing and a basestar had arrived, sending more transports towards the surface. Our forces have met them and have engaged. Already, Sparta is evacuated as well as several other major cities. There is a government center established on Meliosk. I need to get you all there as soon as possible. Rumor has it, the Colonial president is missing, that he's been captured or something."
Francis grabbed a canteen from a passing soldier, gulping the water as fast as he could.
"Ma'am, we gotta go now before there isn't a chance to do so. The Cylons are pounding the marine base and are sure to head this way in force soon."

A grunt escaped Dualla.
"Ask and ye shall receive, it seems." He looked the young Terran over, and saw so much of himself as a young sergeant aboard Galactica. He'd spent more time as a non-com than as a commissioned officer, and it had done him good. This fellow was neither, it seemed. He was a functionary, but Clayton still saw a younger version of himself there. He wondered if the boy had someone like Maria Wagner to take him under her wing. Maybe this Judge will provide that mentoring.
"Mister, you have anything even remotely stealthy? Or just nondescript? We don't need to announce our movements and pique any Cylon curiousity." He took another look at the judge.
"If the Prez is gone, how far down does it have to go till you're running the show?"

Turning to the colonial, Judith thought for a moment.
"Well, let me see. In order for it to be me, the President, veep, then the representative-at-large, no wait, before her it would have to be the heads of the various ministries like agriculture, education, public health and so on, then Miss McPherson. Heck, I think before me, it goes to the supreme court judges. Each city would be run by it's own elected people."
Judith recalled some years ago a drill being done covering this very situation.
As she remembered it, that entire week long event was a total failure. Looking at the colonial, she smiled.
"Well, here's hoping someone else above me makes it through this. I say we get on the readiest available transport and get to Eresea or Meliosk. The government plans always called on assembling in both locations. There's supposedly supplies and such stored in both places."
