Hours later we were above what was left of the Frondal Islands. Miraculously we had evaded detection. I instructed my pilot brother to bring the ship fully online and head down to the planet. Hopefully our luck holds and we can land undetected as well.

The Raptor made a quick turn and JJ pushed the throttle to max as she began to feel uneasy about the state of those Rad Patches on their arms. She and Crash Down had made a lot of runs to the hospital and back to the areas hardest hit but it's time to get back to the Indy now. She headed for open space as the Raptor followed the plotted course back to the ship. Flying through space back to the Independence

Hopefully our luck holds and we can land undetected as well. Raptor 806 is headed for home with the ECO, Crash Down and Pilot, Captain Frost both apparently being exposed to radiation poisoning. We fly past a meteor and all of a sudden the dradis starts pinging. "Uh........ Captain? Not sure if this is right but we may well have found us a cylon raider out here." I push the dradis in for a closer look but the pinging suddenly stops. Like whatever it was, it's either a malfunctioning dradis or it left the area. "Maybe we ought to take a pass in closer to that asteroid?" *Not sure we have time for this, but damn if it IS cylons, we gotta address THAT!*

"Check it again Crash Down" JJ grabbed hold of the throttle and slowed down as she headed back for another pass near the meteor in question. She pressed the mic to the Independence for further orders.
"Independence, Raptor 806 requesting clearance to investigate something on our dradis. Pinging Cylon in the area. Do you want us to go closer? Both of our Rad Patches are almost completely black already. What are your orders?" she took a long breath as she scanned the sky looking for any tell tale sign of cylons.

"Proceed with your investigation, Captain, be advised Admiral Martin has ordered us to head to Ares," thinking carefully as the medical advisor listened to the call, "fifteen minutes maximum but expect a full decontamination upon arrival." "Understood Colonel. Fifteen minutes max. Mark. Raptor 806 proceeding with closer investigation." Knowing how tricky those cylons could be and have been in past encounters she seriously wondered if the allotted fifteen minutes would be enough time. She pushed the Raptor to max speed and headed for the dark side of the asteroid drifting near to their position. "Crash Down" she yelled back toward Stanley "anything yet?" she swung the Raptor so it started into an area that looked to be suspect for a possible hiding place when all hell broke loose and the Dradis lit up like a Christmas Tree.

Watching the dradis and it just starts reacting all over the place. Sounding alarms! Lights going off! "Captain! I think we have something here!" my heart jumps a beat and starts pounding about to come out my flight suit. "Nine o'clock."
I feel Frost head the bird toward where I'm directing her and we catch a glimpse of something sinister hiding right there in plain sight. "It's just sitting there" this is an old cylon trick but we're out of time.
"GODS DAMNIT!" the patch is all but completely black now and I'm pretty sure hers is too. Or at best pretty close to mine. "My rad patch is almost completely black, Captain." I know she ain't one to quit in middle of a mission but this more than likely could get us both landed in the infirmary or placed on probation if it doesn't actually kill us first.

"My rad patch is almost completely black, Captain." I know she ain't one to quit in middle of a mission but this more than likely could get us both landed in the infirmary or placed on probation if it doesn't actually kill us first. Our ship had just finished powering up and begun plotting a course towards the planet when the proximity alarms went off. A Colonial Raptor was behind us and on our right! It was rising up from the asteroids "horizon". They must had been hidden by the asteroids bulk. Whether this had been done intentionally or just dumb luck didn't matter. Our mission was in danger of being compromised. I honestly considered the prudent, nonviolent course of action for a few seconds. To think of the "big picture" as the commander had implied. But the thought of killing some meatbags, which I had been denied for a decade, was really hard to ignore! Then the sensor readings on the human ship came back and made the decision for me. Their ship must have been in the affected radiation area, probably trying to pathetically save their fellow humans. How weak! Their ship was almost glowing in rads. How the humans weren't dead yet was beyond me. They must have been heading back to their ship when we pinged on their Dradis. Frak! A few more minutes and we would have been in the clear. Long run we were guarenteed to win this encounter. But the next few minutes would be the most important. I instruct my brother to enhance the rear shields and to do an emergency launch at full power towards the planet. I make my way towards the rear of the ship and open the doors to space. Another plus to a metal body. No need for air, hence no atmospheric decompression to worry about. A few moments confusion and damage should get us down to the planet. Heading to my supplies, I remove a stealth proximity mine from its cradle. Keeping it in passive mode and maximum stealth mode I make my way to the door. A quick visual and some calculations is all I need. I arm the mine with a 7 second delay, take aim, and throw the mine out the door and towards the Raptor. Door closed I brace myself. Whether these humans survive or not doesn't matter to me. Let the Commander and other skinjobs deal with the humans "politically and nicely". I just want to watch them die! Now if we can just get away and down to the planet's surface...

"There it is! I see it, Crash Down!" JJ saw the raider clearly but was unfortunately out of time "I'm sending them a little message before we have to give up this chase" she fired off one of her missiles and then pulled the Raptor down and to the left to head for the ship. Hoping they both had enough time to land safely but she was feeling the effects of being planet side. "Maybe the radiation will get the cylons for us". The Raptor is on the path for the Independence and it is in the hands of the Gods as to what happens with that cylon raider.

I soon felt a vibration in the ship. Smiling on the inside, I took a seat to scan the area for human debris. Imagine my surprise when I saw their ship flying away! What happened? Sensor data shows the humans launching a missile our way before flying off, and by dumb luck the missile had hit and detonating against my proximity mine. By The One True God, can't I have a few human deaths!?! Fine, another time. I decide to use the explosion to our advantage. Shutting down our systems, the Raider was soon in free fall to the planet. Internal g-forces and heat from atmospheric rentry climbed to the point where humans would he dead. But we were Cylons, not limited by flesh, and we endured... Reading the reports from Terra, Bernard had the Independence turn back towards the world but knew the Admiral would be dependent on the strike team for this other vessel. The stealth technology was an impressive feat but there was one day to see them that the gods had given them from the very beginning...eye sight. Eye sight could allow them to fire everything they had but Independence didn't have much so they had to learn from the enemy. Carefully positioning the Independence in the shadow of the moon as well as cutting the largest heat signature they had; the Independence was now the gator in the pond.
The downside to shutting off the engines meant no heat which meant it was getting cold which even Bernard knew they could hold out. Cylons won round one and it showed they had tapped into Colonial/Terran communication channels but there was no hint of this plan. No Dradis pings. No communications. Just waiting like the crocodile on the waters edge...

Titan BSG-77 Appearing beside the Independence, the Titan extended its pods as it moved alongside of the Independence. Both ships equal in size but apparent not in weaponry for the Titan had twice the number of batteries and marked missile housings. Small circular ports marked the pods and hull for hidden turrets laid inside ready for use as the circular airlock connected the ships. The doors opened as Jonathan turned to Michael, knowing that this was a rare time between Battlestars; "Sent word to the Independence and Marines are awaiting your arrival."

(Terra Orbit) Soon we are airborne and heading back to space. We are vulnerable for a few mins in orbit as we calculate the jumps necessary to the Typheous Shipyards. But by the One True God's grace no attacks come our way before we can leave. It is done! We jump away! (Continued in Typheous ShipYards...)

K was heading back to the Independence for what would most likely be her last time when she noticed a ship to her left. before she could react, it was gone. She knew it was Cylon but from where? The Basestar was gone, not sticking around long enough to wait for the planets weapons system to come to life. She continued on towards the Independence, keying her mic.
"Independence, Viper 906, coming in bingo fuel and ammo, request immediate clearance for combat landing, over."
"Viper 906, you are cleared, Starboard pod, call the ball and welcome home."
"copy that Independence, the board is green. Good to be home again, 906 out."

On the Bridge of the Drex Star As Rear Admiral Basai Makata (CF) (NPC)
As the massive Drex Star left the Terran System, Admiral Makata stood there on the Bridge, staring out into the vast emptiness of space. Looking at her Communications Officer, a middle-aged woman who hailed from Leonis as a young child, she gave the command to notify the Supply Station of their departure.
"Captain Greyson, notify Fleet Supply Station we are departing friendly air space and to keep the faith."
"Aye Admiral, Fleet Supply Station this is Drex Star, we are departing terran System, local time is now 1847 hours. Drex Star Actual says keep the faith, this is Drex Star out."
"Excellent. Helm, set FTL coordinates and start the clock."
"Helm, Aye Sir. Coordinates for first jump are entered and have been verified. Jump in 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1......JUMP!"
And with a WHOOSH sort of sound (like you can hear anything in space), the massive Drex Star vanishes!

As Leftenant Walter O'Reilly, Raptor Pilot from the CMS Marauder (NPC)
As the Raptor made it's way up and out of the planets atmosphere, suddenly a sudden flash of light happened, followed by a slamming force which caused the entire ship to shake and jerk around as if it had just been slapped by a giant hand or something. Within seconds Walter had regained control of the Raptor. Turning towards the rear a bit, he motioned to Castorious.
"Excuse me Sir, but you might want to stick your head up here and see this for yourself."
Castorious got up from his seat and brought himself up between the two pilots, peering out the front window. Walter motioned to the left, bringing the raptor more to that direction.
"Whatever just happened Sir was not, I repeat not a nuclear detonation, otherwise it would have been detected. And it did not originate from outside the atmosphere, there are no enemy ships or craft anywhere. Whoever set that off, they launched it from the surface, which means there was no warning. My guess is a short proximity fuse, go up so high then detonate. DRADIS would have barely detected it before it detonated."
J stood there, sort of bent down a little. He was familiar with the type of weapon just described but wasn't aware that the Cylons had any of them. Looking at Walter, he asked a question.
"How much damage do you estimate?"
"From the size of the blast and the shock wave, considering how far away we were when the detonation took place, I would say pretty much total destruction Sir, sorry."
