K looked out the front of the raptor. Empty space. Checking the Nav screen, she looked at their location. Yeah, they were where they were supposed to be, just pointing in the opposite direction. Taking the controls, she maneuvered the raptor 180 degrees. There it was. Keying her comm link, she called out.
"Sierra Charlie Seven Seven Seven, Raptor 761. We have returned from aborted mission, say again, we are in your perimeter. Request clearance to land, over."

On board the Celestial Wanderer, in transit to Kobol
It had been six months now since the ship and about two dozen others had left Terra and headed to Kobol as part of the evacuation and resettlement of the population from Terra. Although it was not really known how much, if any, damage the wave of gamma radiation from the Supernova that had taken place so many years ago and was known to be at least 50 light years away would do to Terra, no chances were being taken.
Of course, her keen instinct for survival had compelled Sandy to seek transportation from Terra to wherever she could go. She had to admit, her choice of ships turned out to be a wise one. Her accommodations were superb and she had them all to herself, as did most passengers. People were not being herded into quarters and made to live in over crowded conditions. She also had no complaints with the food. Some of the best chefs Terra had to offer had been hired to serve on the Celestial Wanderer, one of the newest luxury passenger ships to be constructed.
She was thinking of her sister Rachel and where she might be at this moment. Last she had heard, the girl was on the Fleet Supply Station, up to something or another. For now though, she still had at least a few more months to spend here before they would arrive at Kobol.

Cavil was smiling, something he really did not care for. Another useless human response. But this was one of those times that a useless human reaction was needed. The nuke had detonated, far beyond his wildest expectations.
Soon enough, more would begin detonating, one by one and the confusion they would set off was something he could hardly wait for.
And if he were really lucky, the other side would catch the blame for this.
As the humans would say, two birds with one stone.

Finishing the last jump, he moved those controls back as he peered back at Terra but noticed right away something wasn't right. The defenses, the massive cannons and missile platforms weren't pointing outward but inward meaning they were never on. Flying past one of the massive cannons, the radiological alarm began going off while he noticed an enhanced view of the control satellite; "Its gone," shaking his head as they backed off. The satellite had a resistance to radiation just like the Raptor there was a time limit on surviving the radiation.
Dropping off the two inner tanks, he watched Gabriel switch to the outer tanks while the camera view showed no island. The blast had torn apart the island and sent the shockwave of the initial explosion to the opposite shores with the multi-tier mushroom cloud into the upper atmosphere but the invisible barrier of hard radiation stretched shore-to-shore and far into high orbit. The fact remains, he needs a sample of the seawater and radioactive ash which is covering hundreds of kilometers to do this tests. Even so, this was no Terran made blast...this was huge and would prolong Cylon efforts to settle the world. Getting up, Jonathan went to the cabin while Samuel went to the cockpit while he slipped on the safety hang rig; "Everyone mask up."

Ares High Orbit Dropping out of FTL, the Independence appeared above Ares with visible smoke coming from the rear of the ship from the burned out FTL. A calculated risk that the Admiral has taken considering they were now in range to get a connection to Terra. The planetary defense network was offline which meant any counter defense wasn't possible except by conventional weapons. Turning to Castorious, Michael crossed his arms as he spoke to the CAG; "Prepare each Raptor with two nukes and missile pods and got them to Terra to provide planetary defense while we keep the Vipers here as escort," knowing this was much different than his previous plan. Gathering transmitted reports, the destruction was bad with the radiation already spreading across the Southern Hemisphere. Marking positions for the Survival Pods they had, he turned to the Communications Officer; "Inform the Admiralty, President and Council that the Independence is in the Terran Star System and here to provide support."
Maybe the knowledge of a single Battlestar could raise their spirits but with the smoke the Dradis was finding it difficult to scan their rear.

The Star is immediately moved from the location it was at to just above Terra With a Blinding LIGHT the Star appears Alarms rang out on the Independence for the ship was at the edge of the Dradis field, Condition One as now set with Vipers being dispatched as the gun batteries came with range estimates. This is where the fun begins. Targeting the central axis, Michael held onto the table for they began firing off missiles but still no birds in the air due to the change in missions. The drums of war beat as the batteries began to fire with uncertainty that the high explosive shells would even hit the target.

The raiders and heavy raiders launched immediately, dodging the weapons fir coming up from the planet below. Only one needed to get through, out of the thousands that were about to be sacrificed. The Star would not last long from the devastation of the planetary defensive weapons, they never did. Still, it was a necessary evil to get that one heavy raider through. The ship had already been designated long before they arrived here, raiders surrounding it, providing protection in the form of taking the hits from below.
Closer and closer they got to the atmosphere, the raider cover quickly being removed one by one. Two more heavy raiders came along either side, escorting the ship down. Soon, there would be intercepting craft from the surface. The pilot, a female hybrid in her 20's, jammed the controls down as hard as she could, the g-force wanting to rip the ship and her arms apart. The clouds soon gave way to open ocean below. She banked upwards as fast and as hard as she could, the heavy raider shooting up, mere meters from the water below. Ahead of here were human aircraft, and they were firing right at her. The accompanying heavy raiders shot ahead of her, firing at the incoming aircraft. She banked to her right, leaving the fight as fast as she could. If she could only make it to her target destination.....
Needs Editing 1. Been Addressed Terran weapons offline so who is suppressing this attack? 2. What ship are you coming from? 3. Who are you? 4. Since the defenses are down due to a post addressing this...looks more like an invasion less of sending a message?
Thanks

Captain Frost leads the Viper patrol into the area near the cylon basestar. She begins providing cover fire so the Vipers can get closer to the target. "Aim for that center point between the top and bottom three arms of that thing. That's where it hinges. We gotta keep that thing from being able to lock into one over the other position. If that happens, all bets are off" she keyed her mic and then fired off some missiles toward the cylons.

Listening to Frost as she tries to line up the Vipers so they do the most damage when I see some new blips on the dradis
"Captain! I think they're launching raiders" not 100% sure but I think that's what I seen. "Ten o'clock, Captain!" I can feel my heart beat harder "Those are raiders! Purdy sure!"

Fearing devastation near she raised up and yell one word JUMP A split second later the Star disappeared from Dradis with a sudden BLINDING LIGHT

JJ gasped as the bright light hit her. She was temporarily blinded and when her vision cleared ........... it was gone!
Keying her mic "Actual, this is Raptor 806, that Cylon Basestar just disappeared!" She checked again, but it was nowhere to be seen. "What are your orders, Sir?" She had her finger on the trigger but not sure how to best continue at this point.

I fly to the scene where the battle is shaping up and I get a little confused. I reach for the mic but then I hear Frost asking for orders so I decide to stay on her wing and wait to hear what's next. Looks like the rest of the Vipers have the same idea cause every bird is just kinda hanging there.

As we exited the ship one question was instantly answered. The planets sensors, at least in this immediate area, were indeed still functioning. A small handful of ships was detected leaving the planet and heading our way. In the next instant the Ares disappeared in a flash out light. They must have noticed the same thing and left to avoid a fight. The approaching ships would be on us in a few moments. A decision had to be made. Scanning the immediate area a small meteoroid was found in a loose orbit of Terra. I instructed my pilot to land on it and shut down all power. Lets try to infiltrate first. If that fails we will make contact. Taking a que from the commanders decision to leave, we will try and avoid a firefight for the moment. As we approach the rock a transmission comes in.
"Fleshcrusher this is Lexi, have you arrived at your assignment?"
A quick verbal reply along with our sensor data is sent back at high speed.
"We're busy Commander. Don't get your undergarments wadded up. FC out."
That was how the humanoid phrase went I think...
We soon landed and shut down power. There was a minor amount of metal in this rock, so we had a slim chance of not being discovered. I estimated roughly a 23% chance of being able to sneak down to the planet. I therefore began formulating responses to us being discovered with a higher chance of not being instantly attacked.
The rock slowly drifted past the Colonial ships as we waited to see if we'd be discovered...

Lowering a full view gas mask on, he was still the Admiral but once on the ground only a few would know of the rank while others will likely assume just another strike team. Grabbing his M4A1, he laid down into the bulky pod as they were loaded into the launch tubes and fired at Terra.
