Far out in deep space Rose is unable to make contact with the Ship. As Rose keeps trying to make contact she sees her Cobra spinning slowly from her position about 30 degrees Starboard. Rose plots the position of the Cobra into her computer then tries again to get the engine to fire.
*Damnit! Fire you Bitch! Fire!* the engine just sputters and refuses to engage. Rose puts her head back against the seat and looks around helplessly not being real familiar with this MKII she's piloting. She's tried everything to get the thing started but no luck. *Well, I guess I just have to wait and hope someone misses me* she chuckles thinking that surely the CAG will be looking for her to chew her butt soon.
Rose keys the mic to the CIC and hopes that her message might make it through to them. *this is Lt. Rose - position 200 centons from the fight - bird unable to fire - send S & R please - standing by* Rose waits

Distracted with Brook briefly, Alex turned back to spot the blood from his knuckles dripping onto the controls as he whipped the fighter back around; headed in for a land. Lowering the landing gear, Alex slowed down as he moved in for a spot on landing; setting down on the mag lift before turning back to Brook, "Aurora says we're in trouble so whatever it is...its probably my fault."

Clayton did not get a reply from the CIC about a Raptor pickup, so he began to reprogram the rescue beacon. He was going to modulate the broadcast frequency to make it a carrier for his communication*
"Colonial Fleet this is DiamondClay. I have ejected from my Hammerhead and am requesting a Raptor to come snag my excape pod. This is all I have left of my bomber and would like to use it to start over."

Clayton froze when he heard the voice. He pressed the button that would allow him to transmit through the beacon. He kept the air open for several seconds:
"...Samantha..."
He was stunned by the recognition. One True God, he'd felt her death during the big Cylon assault, when Galactica disappeared. She wasn't on the other side, with Anastasia and Alexandra? Clayton barely kept from unhooking and removing his helmet, he wanted to just grasp his head and hold it as his thought swam. Frak! This is the worst time for a gestalt of his past life. Concentrating fiercely, he found his center and got his head back in the game.
"Roger, Atlantia, I will keep broadcasting my beacon. I actually good oxygen supplies to hold out. Hull integrity is sound, and the reserve tanks weren't punctured. Just tell the rescue Raptor to maglock gently - I don't want my canopies crushed if it can be avoided."

white fang raptors were in the process of scouring the debris, looking for survivors and many things of importance, when one ship picked up a distress transmission near there location, and a distress beacon near the colonial vessels. Banking away from the task at hand, one of the vessels shot towards the distress call that was near their location. The pilot turned on the spot light to scan the cockpit of the colonial viper and also check the status of the bird. While the bird seemed mostly intact and the pilot in good condition, the pilot did notice fatal damage to the viper's engines and onboard computers as if something just shorted them out. The pilot keyed the comm to the viper while the co-pilot shot a cable into the wing of the viper and began to tow it back to the white fang.
"Lt Rose, this is BCR raptor 227. we are going to tow you back to the White fang. from there you may return to the Atlantia."
he then keyed the comm to the Atlantia as the raptor neared the White Fang.
"Battlestar Atlantia, this is BCR raptor 227. We have one Lt Rose and are enroute to the White Fang. Please send a Raptor to the White Fang when possible for recovery as all our transport vessels are on salvage and recovery missions of the battle field at the moment."

On board the Battlecruiser Aphrodite
As the DC crews from the Athena and the two Gunstars worked with the DC crews of the ship, Commander Lane stood there at the Command table, looking over the reports on the damage to the ship. The fires were finally either put out or at least under control thoughout the Starboard pod, although there was serious damage to the entire pod. The Landing Bay was completely buckled from the heat of the tylium stores going up in flames, there were gigantic holes in the outer bulkhead of the entire pod, all thanks to the ordnance exploding during the fires. Still, it could have been much worse and would have been, had not the Athena and the two Gunstars arrived when they did. Looking over at the XO, Commander Lane spoke.
"Well XO, what's our status?"
The XO, who hadn't slept in over 48 hours, was standing there, looking down. Suddenly realizing the Commander was speaking, he looked up. Grabbing a piece of paper, he looked at it, then replied.
"DC crews from the Athena have extinguished all remaining fires in the Starboard pod, Frames 1 through 60. Thanks to the gaping holes in the outer bulkheads, the fire was vented but so were quite a few of our people. The down side was that the fires inside the ship were sucked towards the pod but at a speed so fast, they were super-heated, melting bulkheads, hatches, and the deck along the way."
Taking a moment to read a bit further, the XO continued.
"Our wonded and non-essential crew have been off-loaded to the Athena. Fire-fighting gear and foam have been brought on from the Decuma and Daphne. Engineering has finally gotten the Blast Doors closed and operating properly on the cross-corridor from the Starboard to the Port sides. They had to replace all the hydraulic lines on the Starboard side. We are still good on tylium, we only lost the tylium stores for the birds on the Starboard side."
Commander Lane stopped the XO.
"Casualties?"
"827 total lost, so far. That includes everyone in the tubes, Landing bay, and Hangar Bay on the Starboard pod. We lost over 500 there alone. The DC crews are still going from section to section and checking every space along the way. We've found a few dozen survivors though, holed up in some rather small spaces. Life support is now functioning again throughout the entire ship."
"What about the Forward spaces, where we took the nuke?"
"DC crews from the Decuma have cleared the wreckage and state the radiation was vented through the impact point. We got lucky-one of our guns hit the missile right before impact, deflecting it but not destroying it. It punched into a thicker part of the hull. The plating stopped most of the radiation from flooding the ship."
"Well, we'll take all the breaks we can get. What's our Engineering status?"
"Engineering sates due to the damage to the Starboard pod, we have to take it slow, otherwise the whole thing will just rip away from the ship. We're still a few hours out from the Station or the Repair Base. Commander-Athena, suggests we make way for the Station. There's a repair ship standing by there, not to mention one hell of a CAP."
"Yes, we're actually closer to the Supply Station than the repair base. Set course for the Supply Station, one-quarter speed. Inform Athena Actual of this. I'll be in my quarters. And XO, go get some frakking sleep!"
"Aye Sir. I'll do that as soon as I am finished here. Comm, contact Athena and inform of our course. Helm, speed at one-quarter."
"Helm, aye sir!"
"Comm, aye Sir!"
Looking around the CIC, the XO knew it was a matter of time before he passed out from the exhaustion. Turning to the Duty Officer, he relinquished command of the CIC, and the ship.
"Captain Jordan, you have the Con. Continue course to the Supply Station and wake the Commander and myself up in the event of an emergency."
Captain Jordan saluted the XO and replied.
"Aye Sir, I have the Con. Will wake you and the Commander if needed sir."

After the Base Ship bailed out with its Raiders, the Colonial fleet was left to lick its wounds and rescue or recover the ones floating around - Clayton among them. He'd been tracking away from the fleet, the thrust of the capsule ejection motors having imparted nearly 30 meters per second delta-V to the escape pod of the XF-01E. He had minimal DRADIS on the batteries. When they got to a certain point, he would have to shut it down to conserve energy for life support and the emergency beacon. He didn't expect to have to wait that long.
While he sat there waiting for rescue, he thought about the voice of the friend he'd thought dead. Samantha Martin. He had the luxury of down time to think about her. Why did he feel her die, only to have her suddenly reappear. He was definitely going to look her up once he'd been taken back to the Atlantia. From the chatter he'd heard, they were taking the lead on the SAR, which was good. He was in their neck of the woods right now, and he'd prefer to take the shortest route to a ship.

A Search and Rescue Raptor from the Atlantia breaks out into space looking for a distress beacon.
Lieutenant JJ Frost aptly heads out in the direction of the last known location of Colonel Dualla-Vires. She pushes the Raptor up to Mach 8 to get there faster as he's been out in space for quite a while now.
Moving methodically from Sector to Sector she watches the space outside the windshield while her ECO, Stanley, scans the Dradis from his station. All at once he picks up the beacon and yells over the loud roar of the engines up to JJ.
*HEY - I GOT HIM - SEVEN SENTONS FROM OUR PORTSIDE, LIEUTENANT.* Stanley plots in the location and it transponds up to JJ's screen so she can see exactly where to head.
JJ smiles once she knows they have the Colonel's location. *YEA, I SEE HIM NOW TOO STANLEY.* JJ turns back to Captain Admiral *OK YOU GUYS, I NEED YOU TO SNAG HIM IN HIS CANOPY. DON'T DAMAGE IT. ONCE YOU GET HOLD OF HIM I WANT HIM BROUGHT INSIDE THE RAPTOR. WE'LL COME BACK LATER FOR WHAT'S LEFT OF HIS SHIP. WE NEED TO GET HIM INSIDE TO WARM UP. THEN WE'LL HEAD FOR THE WHITE FANG TO PICK UP LIEUTENANT ROSE* JJ has to yell to be heard above the whine and roar but she's excited to get DiamondClay.
JJ brings the Raptor to the Colonel's position and then waits for Captain and his men to give her the go ahead that they have him. Once he's been snagged then they will be able to wench him inside the Raptor.

Making another patrol sweep past DiamondClay's escape pod, I reduce airspeed and maintain a visual on the skies and the rescue operations. Seeing the raptor successfully rescue DiamondClay, I survey the situation, and come to the conclusion that my mission has drawn to a close.
I increse thruster speed, and adjust to my 180 degree back azimuth on steady and level flight, then punch it out at Mach 3 back toward the Atlantia.
"CIC this is BlueBird, visual confirmation on the recovery of DiamondClay. Mission complete, I'm returning to the Atlantia."

Clayton settles down in his seat aboard the SAR Raptor. The escape pod from the XF-01E has to be jetissoned and picked up later as they have one more to reascue and the pod would get in the way. He sat quitely while his vitals were taken.
"Thank you for the save. Good job everybody," he complimented the team from Atlantia. They'd performed beautifully. The XF-01F is going to be a big project, and won't be ready for the cockpit for some time. No rush. He plugged into a comm jack so he could call the cockpit.
"This is Colonel Dualla. Who do I have to commend for the good flying?"

From the cockpit JJ closes the opening and seals it up tight. She smiles hearing DiamondClay's voice in her headset. Pressing the mic on it she responds to his query *Lieutenant JJ Frost at your service, Colonel. Glad to hear you are safe and sound. I will jetison your pod and put its position into the nav computer so we can return for it later. Right now, we need to get to the White Fang and pick up Lieutenant Rose. Seems she was rescued by the BCR Faction.* JJ heads the Raptor for the coordinates of the White Fang. Once on course she then notifies the CIC that she has succesfully retrieved one Colonel from the dead of cold space.
*BS-53 Atlantia - this is Lieutenant Frost - we have recovered Colonel Dualla and are now heading for the White Fang to retrieve Lieutenant Rose. ETA one hour's time from this mark - Frost out* pushing the Raptor up to Mach three she heads for the Fang.
JJ opens the speaker into the back of the Raptor so they can hear her. *Nice work Captain! Your team is be commended on rescuiing the Colonel* JJ smiles and sees the Dradis show the White Fang *We will be to the White Fang soon. Just sit back and enjoy the ride*

JJ checks their position then answers Captain Admiral *We'll be there in about twenty minutes time, Captain Admiral.* she dips the Raptor to the right and banks a turn then heads for the White Fang directly.
