The 12 Colonies of Kobol, home to over 50 Billion people, the single largest gathering of humanity in the Universe. Suddenly and without warning, most all were annihilated within the span of hours, the Children of Humanity coming home to finish what had been started 40 years earlier. Out of the ashes, a small number of groups of survivors were able to escape the Cylons and head to the stars. Most were hunted down and killed almost immediately. Still others had manged to leave their solar system and begin the search for a new home.
Rumour had it that a lone Battlestar had survived, the Galactica, along with a small fleet of some 200 assorted ships and approximately 60,000 survivors. There was even the story that a second Battlestar, the Pegasus, had managed to jump away from the carnage.

Year 1 NCE (New Colonial Era) Approximately 7 years after the Cylon Attack on the 12 Colonies of Kobol
One group that did escape and evade the Cylons was led by the surviving Colonial Battlestars Galactica-II, Vulture, Chryasor, Cerberus, and Dragon, and a number of military/government support-type vessels, along with almost 200 civilian ships and 80,000 plus survivors. This group was originally led by the Colonial Hero known as Raptor. He was followed soon after by the woman known only as Duet. Several others followed in their footsteps, having been elevated to the position of President through elections. Although they knew there was another President out there, somewhere, it was necessary to continue the Colonial Government with these survivors, otherwise what was left of their society would break down into nothing less than anarchy.
Soon though, the Cylons had located this group of survivors, just as it had found all the other groups. Fighting for their very survival, this group, now known as Colonial Command, began the search for a planet that they could settle on, rebuilding their destroyed lives. Eventually, such a planet was found. It was aptly named New Earth, in honor of the fabled planet Earth from the Sacred Scrolls that had been passed down through the eons. The name was also chosen so as to confuse the Cylons. Although this planet was already inhabited by humans, these humans were not technologically advanced. It was decided that the Fleet would settle on this planet permanently. It had now been almost 7 years since the Cylon attack on their former home worlds. The people were tired, food was running in short supply and they needed fresh water. This planet held the promise of all that and possibly even more.
Not too long after their arrival, the Cylons show up however, for reasons that have yet to be revealed, New Earth is declared a neutral planet, both humans and Cylon humanoids living on the planet in peace. Although an indigenous population exists on the planet and already have some technology (electricity, light industrial capacity, etc.), there is evidence that a major war or disaster had occurred on the planet many years prior. Although no major cities exist on the planet, the population is calculated at less than 20 million people. A few new cities are built by the Colonials, who also introduce their technology to the planet. A time of prosperity and peace settles across the planet.
A shipyard is constructed and new ships are built. Light to moderate industry is established on the planet, with mining operations throughout the solar system. Although there are tensions with the Cylons, no fighting has occurred.
Soon, that would all change.

Year 2 NCE (New Colonial Era)
War is declared again by the Cylons under the control of Cavil, Simon, and Doral models, who were on other basestars when Galactica-1 destroyed the Cylon colony, this having been told by those Cylon humanoid models who lived in peace amongst humanity. A major battle is fought, destroying the Battlestars Vulture and Cerberus and prompting the President to order the planet evacuated. Only the Colonial Battlestar Galactica II and a new Battlestar, the Retribution, along with a number of support vessels and numerous civilians ships survive and manage to escape, along with approximately 70,000 survivors, including some of the indigenous population.

Year 2.5 NCE
Although the Fleet makes an emergency jump, several ships decide to stay behind, hiding out amongst the asteroid belt and out past the edge of the solar system, waiting for the Cylons to leave. After several months, it is verified that the Cylons are gone. Re-settlement of the planet begins, along with the re-establishment of manufacturing, agriculture and the building of a new city.
Around this same time, the CMS Gondawa, having left the Galactica II/Retribution Fleet, returns to Terra, bringing with her several thousand survivors, including one Dr. Elea Kaun-Castorious and her twin daughters, along with their Nanny and a certain Centurion who has devoted his existence to these humans.
Their return was not what was expected. The Terrans, having now established a unified government, had decided to detain these Colonials, until it could be decided what was to be done with them.
Year 3.5 NCE
Having left New Earth a year previously, still in search of the real Earth, the majority of the Fleet, under the protection of the Battlestars Galactica II and Retribution, decide that it is time to settle somewhere. This movement is spurred on by the former Vice-President/President at the time, J Castorious having located a habitable planet. Before the Fleet can make the jump, the entire Cylon Fleet locates them. As the Fleet tries to make its escape again, several ships are destroyed, some of them by religious fanatics on board. The Cylons cause major damage to a number of ships but due to the valiant efforts of the fleet's pilots and ships personnel, the Cylons pay a heavy price. All told, over 150 ships and only 40,000 survivors are able to escape, with the majority of them making the trip back to New Earth, now called Terra, to live out their lives, hopefully in peace. In the course of this one last battle, the Galactica II was able to jump to safety. Unfortunately, the Retribution stayed behind to cover the escape of the last of the Fleet, herself being destroyed.

Year 4.5 NCE
After approximately two months, the Fleet began to re-join together. Although the planet located by then-Vice-President J Castorious proved to be a Gods send, the Nebula nearby was proving to be more of a problem than first thought. Although it was blocking the Fleet from being detected by the Cylons, the radiation was stronger than the scientists on board the CMS Lodi City had figured. At the rate the population was being exposed, every man, woman, and child on the planet or on board the ships would be rendered sterile. It was decided that the Fleet should return to New Earth (Terra). Many suspected this was merely a ploy for the Vice-President to be re-united with his wife but in the end it was the only logical choice. To be certain that the Cylons weren't there, a few Fleet ships made the series of jumps back. Once they had made certain it was safe, the rest of the Fleet was brought back.

Year 6.0 NCE
Once the Fleet re-joined at Terra, the Colonial Government, now led by Vice-President J Castorious, made preparations to go to the planets surface. After a few days of consultations with the various ships Captains, a team was formed and proceeded to the surface. The welcoming that the Colonials received was not what they expected, not by a long shot. The Terrans, having now formed a unified planetary government, had already taken their anger at the Colonials out on the crew and passengers of the CMS Gondawa, who had returned to the planet approximately a year ago. Led by Dr. Elea Kaun-Castorious, the Colonials had been placed in detainment, until such time that the government could decided what, if anything, would be done with them.
The Terrans, who at first had welcomed the Colonials a few years ago, now resented their presence due to the Cylon attack on the planet. Had it not been for the Colonial presence on their planet, the Cylons would never had located their planet. For this reason, the Terrans were now distrustful and angry at the Colonials. Still, the majority of Terrans knew that the Colonials were their only chance at regaining their lost technology and rebuilding their society. The Terran government, however, knew that this go around, THEY would be in charge of the planet, not the Colonials. Only time would tell how things worked out.

Year 7.0 NCE (Present time)-approximately 14 years after the Cylon attack on the 12 Colonies
Having been attacked already twice by the Cylons, it was decided by the Terran government to enter into an alliance with the Colonials, mainly due to the fact that only they posses the ships and military personnel to defend the planet from the Cylons. Although there is still much resentment from a few factions on Terra, the Colonials begin the process of re-building the planet (again) and sharing Colonial technology with the Terrans. Industry is built up with the main objective of building more ships. The Terran workers prove to be very adept at learning shipbuilding skills and fast. Soon, several container and transport ships are built. New advances in FTL technology are placed not only into these new ships, but into the remaining ships of the Fleet. It is now possible to return to the 12 Colonies in less than a fourth of the time it took previously. It is for this reason that the existing Colonial government is completely disbanded with only the military remaining intact. Almost all Colonial government officials and civilian employees are transferred over to the Terran government, with the exception of the members of the Quorum of the Twelve, who were not happy with the decision.
Eventually it is decided to return to the 12 Colonies to bring back any survivors and anything that may be needed. While doing so, it is discovered that there were three other groups of Fleet and civilian ships that had escaped the Cylon holocaust and had returned to the 12 Colonies. Many of these ships decide to come to Terra, although it takes them several years to do so.
Although never explained by the Terrans, the Colonial military discovers more evidence of a major war on the planet. Residuals of radiation confirm that nuclear weapons were used. Based upon the rate of decay and the levels of radiation, the war was placed at having happened nearly two thousand years ago. Top Colonial officers knew that the Terrans were holding back alot of information, especially when it came to the population levels. Rumors had circulated amongst Viper and Raptor pilots concerning the so-called discovery of access tunnels into the mountainous regions of the planet. Speculation as to the purpose of these tunnels ran from the usual-military bunkers abandoned long ago-to the outrageous-large underground cities, filled with hundreds of millions of people, and entire society being stashed away.
Soon, the truth would be exposed and the very future of the Terran-Colonial alliance and the lives of everyone on (or deep within) the planet would hang in the balance. Just when it seemed all was quiet in space, a familiar sight would soon be seen and it would not be a welcome one.
