Stepping down some stairs, they walked into a massive courtyard that was in the process of being built with half painted walls but the plants were growing. Images of Terra was playing through the screens...a memorial to their home but also images of the Colonies. The speakers played calm music as he stepped onto the polished white floor as he noticed marks on the floor. Shouldering his rifle, he knew these were Cylon footprints and by the look of them they appeared to be organized. How in the hell did the Cylons get in and even past the two hundred well trained Marines? The music faded as com chatter played...coordinated Marines fighting against a dozen Cylons but the fighting went further into the base.
Whispering to James, he noticed a bit of oil on the ground which lead to a burned out toaster; "It's like hearing ghosts," pulling a bullet out of the toaster, "black slug...these weren't Marines but former Special Forces maybe even Peacekeepers. We might not be alone here."

James knew for a fact that this facility had just Marines since Peacekeepers would stand out with they're clothing and even gear so these Peacekeepers are recent. Kneeling down, the oil was still dripping and was still warm which meant this kill was recent but even more the close groupings meant this was a sniper or at least a marksman. Marksmen travel in squads and from what little he knew they were quite deadly even live in stealth. Getting up, he whispered to him as he noticed a shadow moving but it could be the lack of sleep; "There was no Peacekeepers here, originally, we lost contact a few days ago and they probably got here first."
Walking over to what would be immigration control, he noticed six shell casings as he called over the Colonel; "Be lucky they're on our side."

Moving into the armory, he pushed through the blast proof door only to find an armory picked clean of ammunition and even the heavy arms. Grabbing the tablet off the wall, he noticed several cases of G4 explosives were missing which meant if this place was being overran than destroying what was important would protect it. Tossing the tablet aside, he knew there had to be at least one Marine ready to detonate fifty pounds of syntax explosives at the first sight of any toaster...or maybe anyone.
Picking up his pace as he kept his eye down the barrel; he didn't want to chance anything especially running into a Cylon. The magazine he had loaded already had armor piercing rounds which would cut anyone in half but for a toaster it would ensure scrap metal would be an after thought.

Walking over to what would be immigration control, he noticed six shell casings as he called over the Colonel; "Be lucky they're on our side." A Marksman Peacekeeper Team. He heard about them briefly from Jack Thrax and these guys made Alphas look like toddlers and with these groupings it showed they got this Centurion without being seen. Switching to heat mode on his sunglasses, he glared into the shadows to see four men standing there with they're rifles pointing at him. Lifting his hand up, he was showing that they surrender to the superior team as he spoke up; "I'm Lieutenant Colonel John November with Terra HDF..." Interrupting him as one of them stepped forward, wearing urban camo with a .50 caliber M4 as well as an osprey square suppressor; "Colonel Zero, Leader of Delphi Team; Caprica Peacekeepers. General Thrax sent you guys...just a little too late." Letting his rifle hang, he crossed his arms as he kept his sunglasses on; "We had to hunt down Colonel Thrax and we found a message probably from a lost Colony. Any survivors here?" Nodding, the Colonel pulled up drone footage of Site Two; "Colonel Marks and the survivors trapped the Cylons in the core of the base before sending the message to Caprica for Peacekeeper reinforcements. I assume you want to reclaim this place?" Shaking his head, he knew this place would be needed for Operation Phoenix; "An event that we have no control over will kill Terra and this place is going to be required..." "Operation Phoenix," signaling his men to move out, "we'll be hunting the enemy and you reset the core...we'll talk more later."

Running down maintenance tunnels, Samuel kept checking his location as well as his surroundings for he was finding G4 explosives attached to unopened doors. These were magnetic explosives which in his mind was a tool used not just to contain a threat but also like land mines; make it easier for a small army to fight a bigger force. His idea of a single Marine with a deadmans switch was becoming less possible and would be a waste of a good soldier. Jumping down a shaft, Samuel came face-to-face with a Centurion but this was different...the red eye was replaced with a purple eye as he slowly pointed his rifle up. Shooting the Centurion in the head, he shoved a grenade into the cavity before jumping away; getting clear as the Cylon exploded.
Looking over the scrap, this Centurion had moss growing on the metal which meant he was here for a while and Cylons are known to only to follow Colonials and Terrans. Colonials were here 30 years ago and it's reasonable to assume that not all Centurions made it back to the Basestar. Noting this minor theory, he continued his jog to the core knowing now that his enemy was older than him.

So the Peacekeepers had a better understanding of Operation Phoenix but how far did this understanding go? Feeling the rumble of an explosion, John knew that had to be Samuel and it definitely got the attention of the Peacekeepers as they left to investigate. Continuing towards the core, John knew it was good idea to lock the Cylons into the base but E.M.P charges had become a standard and Cylons weren't insulated against a focused E.M.P charge...or Colonel Marks had other plans for the E.M.P devices?
John met Marks years ago when he was a Commander and the man had out of the box thinking that was unmatched by anyone in the Navy. When the Navy got blended into the HDF, Marks became a ghost till now...Jack posted him here but what is going to happen after this place is up and running.
Walking through another door, they were at the core but on the wrong level as they looked down through the glass floor to see the core interface...10 levels down.

Much further down than John, Samuel began running into Cylon resistance but it wasn't nothing he couldn't take care. Using the Colonial pistol, he fired the mini grenade launcher with his HK45 loaded with explosive rounds which made Swiss cheese of the enemy. Reaching the core, he had a plan to repurpose the G4 after all he was tired of this place already; placing the explosives on the glass with metal around it to direct the explosion down. Wiring everything to a panel, he flipped the light on which triggered the explosives as he slid into the hole but soon realized he was in free fall for 5 levels.
Luckily, he slid in at an angle which carried his momentum forward as he tumbled to a rough landing only 3 levels down. Throwing his pack down, he followed it as he broke his fall on his pack as he noticed the cores working as one which confirmed the A.I theory. The A.I probably detected the Centurions and believed the Centurion religion bullshit which started all this shit.
Opening his pack, he began wiring in as he prepared a brute reset program which would scrub this A.I from the cores. The HDF developed this program in response of a threat from possibly another Cylon invasion which they made it brutal. Aggressively disconnecting not just A.Is but hybrids, releasing aggressive control viruses that are self producing and giving control to the single user. Connecting the fiber optic cable to the core as he set his weaponized tablet on top before starting the brute force program.

The power began to flicker as they moved closer to Samuel's position, the sounds of thumping got louder which meant every door in the facility was slamming shut. The door ahead of them slammed shut which allowed them to see Samuel as the program began wiping one core at a time with the final audio log playing:
This is Colonel Marks, I'm in acting Order Alpha One and ordering the full evacuation of this facility to Site Two. Countermeasures are in place to trap the Cylons and Caprica has been notified. I say again Order Alpha One is now in affect.
Alpha One is one order that has multiple uses but by simply shutting down this facility that alerted Terra and even General Thrax that something wasn't right. All of this was protocol when brute force which Samuel was doing but how did the Centurions last this long. There was still something missing...

Bringing up the power management systems, he set power to 60% before completing the wiping of the A.I as Centurions dropped to the ground as he finally opened the doors. Keeping the tablet connected, he knew the computer engineers from the Colonies could finalize everything else better than he could; transmitting the all clear signal. Turning to John as he noticed the Peacekeepers behind him, clipping on his pack before picking up his rifle; "I'm sure you all had a better plan but at least this Operation Phoenix is still green lit so," rebooting his tactical pad after wiping it, "anyone want to go to Site Two?"
Putting on his sunglasses, he knew there was a mess here and had hoped that the Peacekeepers would look towards the thousands of Gondawans here to help accelerate the work.

Surprised that Samuel actually knew what he was doing. Watching the doors open, he patted Samuel on the back as he turned to James; "Start repairing the raptor and I'll go visit Colonel Marks at Site Two," starting his walk to the hanger. All of the Peacekeepers were climbing into they're shuttle as the Colonel made space; "Lieutenant Colonel, we're headed to Site Two and your welcome to come with us."
Only nodding, himself and Samuel climbed onboard as the shuttle took off with the doors open as they watched the hundreds of thousands of lights come online. Flying over the mountains, over the valleys that were littered with old raptors which were now markers for pilots but one day would have to be scavenged. Suddenly buildings appeared as massive cranes were moving pre-fabricated pieces into place with lights on the ground. The city was only a mile wide but there was roads stretching out which meant they had plans to build on.
Waiting till the shuttle landed, they stepped out only to be greeted by Colonel Marks; "So I see my Cylon issue has been dealt with and this place isn't so hidden anymore."
The Peacekeeper Colonel finished his report on his tactical pad, he spoke up as he crossed his arms; "With a recommendation, Caprica will be sending structural engineers, construction workers in the thousands and a company of Peacekeepers for the facility. We will gladly help you...its commendably that you made it this far."
Shaking his head, John spoke softly as he noticed Samuel taking pictures; "The Communications Array is clean of Cylons and my Specialist wiped the core so no repeats of past activity. Upon leaving, we noticed a pending message...Terra is sending 20,000 civilians here in less than a month."
Shaking both of they're hands, Colonel Marks knew the help would be needed; "Thanks, both of you, for your efforts we should have a sizeable city before Terra dies."
Noticing the raptor landing on just thrusters, John shook hands with the Colonels before starting his walk over to the raptor.

Taking video and pictures through his sunglasses, Samuel was surprised on how big the city was growing especially with restoration specialists working on the forum. The old and new combined into this single city. There was still years of work to do such as putting in the fission reactors to power the city such as ones that are powering Caprica City and other cities in the colonies.
The facility would be multi-use with the geo thermal generators which would be a backup for the city and a steel fortress for the Marines. Kobol was showing a certain charm already but they needed to brief the team on what they found and confront the General.
Walking to the raptor, he knew the deck hands would have a field day with this ship but it was performing a task better than most. Standing up in the back, he switched out barrels as he waited for the Colonel; already prepared to get some rack time on the Independence.

Taking a seat onto the bench seat, John took off his hat as he hit the switch to close the hatch; he was drenched in sweat. If everything went to plan then a population of three billion would make Kobol home but he knew there was so much more to it. The statistics ran through his head as he felt the solid fuel engines start up:
90% of the planet is unexplored which means in a decade that would have to change. Moving a population in the billions require housing, food and resources for that population to survive which put them dependent upon the colonies for decades. Moving the entire population would drain all the tylium they had which meant either looking for MORE fuel or forcing a change...
This is what John did. He looked at all the evidence submitted and thinks of an outcome of them but there was nothing here. Getting up, he slipped on his hat as he nudged past Samuel; "Take us to the Independence, Mayday."
