Caprica is an Earth-like planet settled by the Capricorn tribe of Kobol. It also has the capital city of the Twelve Colonies, Caprica City. Caprica was the cultural, scientific, technological and governmental capital of the Colonies, and was regarded as the leading world of the colonies. As such, the people of Caprica were often resented by the poorer, less-developed colonies as being snobs and elitists.
Caprica City was the capital of the planet Caprica and the capital of all Twelve Colonies. It was a beautiful city, with many graceful skyscrapers, and is located on the shores of a large ocean or sea. The city was completely destroyed by the Cylons in the Destruction of the Twelve Colonies and then rebuilt by the Cylons. The city has two business districts: a highly futuristic one with glittering metal skyscrapers where transportation is by hovercar, called the City Center; and a less futuristic district called the Government Center Plaza, with transportation in cars just like those on Earth.

Delphi was a major city on the planet of Caprica. It contains the Museum of the Colonies. This Museum contained the Arrow of Apollo, an ancient artifact which could supposedly point the way to the mythical planet of Earth, home of the lost thirteenth colony. Like Caprica City, Delphi's human population was totally exterminated by the Cylons in their attack on Caprica; however, the Museum building survived the attack, as does the Arrow of Apollo artifact.
The Museum of the Colonies is located in the city of Delphi on the planet Caprica. It contains various artifacts, including the Arrow of Apollo.

I'm just wondering what your thoughts are for these threads? Do you want us to establish some characters and live here? Are we to re-enact all that has happened before?

I created these threads more for the fun of it BUT thought we could utilize them as a back story to the RP. Seeing as how "we" (as in CC) had already gone back to the Colonies, it made sense to have threads for them. There will be some story lines that will involve "us" making trips back home, bringing survivors back to "here" and establishing some sort of trade, plus interaction with the Cylons.
In short, not sure what we'll do but they sure look purty, huh??
Everyone can post what they feel appropriate, or just add their own tid-bits to the threads, such as "hometowns", etc;

The CMS Marauder, having made the journey back to Caprica on a Search and Recon Mission, has discovered that there are numerous survivors still on Caprica. Although it has been some 15 years since the Cylon Holocaust, there is still much radiation swirling around the atmosphere.
Commanded by Captain Joseph Markus, the crew of the CMS Marauder were in orbit above Caprica when they suddenly began picking up garbled wireless transmissions coming from the planet's surface. Captain Markus decides to send a Raptor to the surface to identify the source of the communications. What they discover is a group of Colonial Fleet survivors, living deep underground in one of several military bunkers that escaped the attack on the Colonies.
It is decided that the CMS Marauder will bring back any survivors that wish to leave Caprica and before making the journey back to Terra, the CMS Marauder will visit the other colonies to see if there are any additional survivors.
All told, it is determined that there are just a little over 10 million survivors, out of over 28 billion people!

Eight months earlier, having jumped to Caprica from TerraFrom the Log of Captain Joseph Markus: It has now been eight months since we left the Terra system and made the jumps back to Caprica. Fortunately, the new FTL drives that were developed by Colonial and Cylon-Colonial engineers have proven to be more than worth their weight in cubits. What would have normally taken years to complete can now be accomplished in eight months time. Adjustments still have to be made after each jump, considering that each jump is a rather long one and you have to make certain that the next jump doesn't put you inside a star or planet! We are now in orbit over Caprica. Even after 15 years, the atmosphere is still dirty with the debris of all those nuclear bombs going off. Tests of the overall quality of the atmosphere show that radiation levels are still rather high in some areas of the planet, namely Colonial military installations. For the most part though, the radiation levels near or above the major cities has decreased to safe levels, provided exposure is limited to only several hours. We have sufficient anti-rad meds on board. We have detected wireless transmissions coming from the planet. It is safe to assume that these are not of Cylon origin, since no Cylon ships were detected when we arrived in the solar system. based upon available intel prior to our departure from Terra, the Cylons abandoned the 12 Colonies about two years after the attack. It was nice of the Cylons to rebuild most of the infrastructure of the major cities, although I personally do not understand why they did so. I am preparing to send a recon team down to the surface of the planet to determine the origin of the wireless transmissions and to find out how many survivors there are. Before we leave and return to Terra, we will visit the other Colonies to find out their status. I do not expect we will receive a heroes welcome when we land on the planet's surface. It has been a number of years since anyone has returned to the Colonies and I am quite certain that the survivors will feel as if they were abandoned twice by the Fleet.

Day Two, Caprica Recon Mission It's almost 0500 hours. Still in orbit above Caprica. Last night, two raptors were sent to recon Virgon and Tauron. They reported much the same scene as here at Caprica. Couldn't sleep last night, so I sat on the Bridge and listened to the garbled comm traffic out there. You can make out bits and pieces of some of the transmissions but for the most part, it almost seems like gibberish. My Communications Officer tells me it could be signals from years ago bouncing back and forth through space. The Cylons apparently did not destroy all our satellites. We've picked up old television broadcasts from before the attack. One of our raptors came across the satellite that was sending the signal. It was in orbit around one of the moons of Sagittaria. The damn thing was in a continuous loop, broadcasting the same shows over and over again, for 15 years! We've begun recording the transmissions for future posterity. Today, we will be sending teams to the surface of Caprica. Our earlier estimate of survivors will most likely be adjusted. From the damage we've seen so far, it isn't likely too many were able to escape the Cylons, even if they did manage to make it underground or to the higher latitudes. Delphi City and Oasis are gone, except for the Delphi Museum. We intend to go there and retrieve as much as we can. This mission isn't just about searching for survivors, it's also about saving our culture. The Marines and Med teams are getting their gear ready. I am hopeful the Marines will not be needed for anything other than assisting with survivors but you never know. Once on the ground, we will try to search out the sources of the wireless signals we've come across so far. If there are bunkers, and we know there are, perhaps there are Fleet personnel down there.

Day Three, Caprica Recon Mission I have decided to accompany the first landing team to the Caprican surface. Call it curiousity but I have to. We've landed about 50 kilometers north of Delphi. Our last survey of the planet showed this location to be relatively free of radiation, most likely caused by the hills all around this area and the fact that the valley is well protected. We are setting up camp and will send out recon teams in the morning. So far, we have not come across any signs of humans, although there is plenty of wildlife in this valley. The scientists with us have taken blood samples from several species so far and will be performing some tests to determine the effects of the radiation exposure. The fact that there is any wildlife at all is a good sign, at least in this region. We've done a quick test of the water from the stream nearby and I am happy to report that it's safe for human consumption. This is really good news as it means we will be able to utilize this water source to replenish our supply on board the ships. I am suspicious however as to the absence of any humans in this rather pristine region. I have the feeling we are being watched but for the time being, we have a job to do setting this camp up. If there are survivors out there, we need to be able to assist them and having this camp functioning will insure that we are able to do just that.

Day Four, Caprica Recon Mission It's morning on Caprica and for all intents and purposes, the camp is now set up and functioning. We have established a communications center here and are in contact with the ships in orbit. We've been scanning the known Colonial military frequencies but so far all we hear is static. We will begin checking the civilian ones later today. One of our teams has returned to camp with our breakfast-fish. After a quick check to make sure it's safe to eat by our trusted scientific team, the smell is wafting across the camp and I'm certain, for kilometers all around us. That could be a problem but in about a minute, there won't be any of it left, I assure you. It's been some time since any of us have had anything remotely fresh to eat, having subsisted on canned and freeze-dried foods for the past eight months. Today we will venture to the outskirts of Delphi. I expect that the radiation levels will still be sufficiently high to warrant the use of anti-rad meds and possibly even suits. There are two places we will be interested in, the Delphi Museum and a government facility about three kilometers from the museum. We hope to retrieve some of the intact artifacts from the museum, if there are any. As for the government facility, from the intel we received back on Terra, this facility is supposed to house all the back-up archives of the colonies. If that's the case, then we will have saved the past two thousand years of Colonial history, clear up to the day of the Cylon attack on our home worlds. I've issued strict orders that there is to be no hunting of wildlife. As much as I would love to bite into a fresh steak, we're not going to go killing any animals, not after what they've endured as a result of the Cylon holocaust. Besides, if there are survivors, the last thing we want to do is start taking their food sources from them. Also, I don't think it will be a good idea to have the sound of gunfire ringing out in the valley. Not exactly how I want to present ourselves.

Second Caprica Recon Mission-2 years later Having arrived back at Caprica, two years after our first recon mission to the Colonies, our communications officer has informed me that there are wireless signals being detected from the planet. This would make sense, since our last trip back to the Colonies showed us that quite a few people had managed to survive the Cylon attack and subsequent occupation of our homeworlds. Of course, we did not come into much contact with many survivors during our last trip. This time though, our mission is to seek out and find as many survivors as we possibly can. It should also be pointed out that we made a stop over at the planet that was named New Caprica and we have dropped off badly needed supplies and personnel to the Colonial survivors that we found there. We located the planet accidentally to be quite honest. Had it not been for a very observant Raptor crew, we would have sailed right past the planet altogether. We had an idea as to where the planet was located, based from information we were provided by our Cylon allies. Still, the universe is a vast empty entity, so we were very llucky to have come across New Caprica. Our arrival wasn't exactly what we were expecting. The survivors on the planets surface, some two thousand plus, apparently thought the Cylons had returned and when our raptors and shuttles landed, we came under small-arms fire. Several of our people were wounded but luckily none were killed. We will of course be returning to new Caprica when we make the trip from the Colonies back to Terra. For now, this journal will concentrate on our new mission back to the Colonies.

Caprica is an Earth-like planet settled by the Capricorn tribe of Kobol. Caprica is in the Helios Alpha star system, and has a twin planet called Gemenon that is only 493,000 kilometres (306,336.0 mi) away. The twin planets share a mutual orbit where each planet trades places with the other every 28.2 days. Caprica also shares its star system with Picon and Tauron.[2] It is known throughout the Four Systems as the "Capital of the Colonies" [1]
Caprica City was both a planetary and later a federal capital of the Twelve Colonies after the "Articles of Colonization" were signed soon after the First Cylon War started.[8] The city replaced the previous Colonial Capital, Boskirk on Virgon. As depicted in both the original and re-imagined television series it was a very large city, with a population over seven million[9]. It was also extremely beautiful, with many graceful skyscrapers, and is located on the shores of a large ocean or sea. As a result, Caprica became the cultural, scientific, and technological capital of the Colonies, and was regarded as the first planet of the colonies. The city has two business districts: a highly futuristic one with glittering metal skyscrapers where transportation is by hovercar, called the City Center; and a less futuristic district called the Government Center Plaza, with transportation in cars just like those on Earth. It has a large open space called Orpheus Park and the Caprica Buccaneers play at Atlas Arena. The city was completely destroyed by the Cylons in the Destruction of the Twelve Colonies and then rebuilt by the Cylons. In Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, the effects of the Cylon nuclear attack on Caprica City are briefly seen.

Second Caprica Recon Mission-2 Years Later Coming into the edge of the solar system, we have launched two raptors, with no fighter escort. Scanning all of the known Colonial wireless frequencies, we have managed to pick up some garbled transmissions. Unfortunately, we cannot pinpoint their exact location. Attempts at cleaning up the messages has not been successful, most likely a result of the radiation still encircling the planet of Caprica. We didn't have this problem the last time we were here, mainly because there were no transmissions being picked up. At least now, this gives us some proof there are not only survivors down there, but they have re-established some technology. Looking over at the XO, I nod to him. "XO, let's park somewhere behind one of the Caprican moons, out of sight so to speak. Just in case there is someone down there looking upwards, we don't want to freak them out, okay?" "Copy that Sir. Helm, take up station behind the larger moon." The Helmsman responded. "Helm, taking up station behind the larger moon, aye Sir."
