Sitting in her chair inside the Fleet Comm Center high above the planet, Petty Officer Marsala Jovan suddenly sat up and looked at her DRADIS screen. She switched over to a more central view, zooming in on the sudden activity in the planets atmosphere. Following protocol, she pressed the alert button, notifying Fleet HQ so that Vipers could be scrambled now. Pressing her comm set, she sent an urgent message to Fleet HQ.
"Attention Fleet HQ, this is Fleet Comm, we are tracking what appears to be a Colonial transport, above the Gondawa region of the planet. The transport appears to be under some sort of distress. We are picking up garbled comm chatter and can identify that the ship is damaged, over."
Down on the planet at Fleet HQ, a young Ensign on duty in the Fleet HQ Comm Center replied.
"This is Fleet HQ Comm Center, copy that. We are scrambling Vipers already and will notify SAR. This is Fleet HQ Comm out."

As the message was received at the Colonial Marine Fort, three Marine Raptors were making their preparations to launch the SAR. As the last of the supplies were thrown on board the Raptors, all three lifted off in unison, heading towards Gondawa.

On board the Ptemkaren, Elea struggles to help those who are wounded around her, holding her wrist at her side pretending not to notice the pain. Lieutenant Danly holds a towel to his face to stop the bleeding, becoming pale as the seconds pass. The captain announces as the ship rumbles and jerks about: "We're going in, and we don't have very much control anymore. Please try to brace yourselves somehow."

Streaking in from the south, three Raptors belonging to the Terran Defense Forces raced to the scene of the downed Colonial transport. Suddenly, a surface-to-air missile came up and tore into the lead Raptor, shearing the cockpit off and sending the craft to the surface, exploding as it hit the side of a cliff. A second missile also streaked up from the surface, striking a second Raptor. The pilot was able to correct his course but the craft was damaged.
"This is Terran Flight zero five five, we are under fire and have sustained damage. We are returning to the city. Terran Flight zero five four, you have the mission."
The pilot of the third Raptor looked over and nodded to the stricken Raptor as it banked and headed back to the city. Now only one Raptor to rescue the downed Colonial transport. How lovely.

Off to the east, the pilots of the three Marine Raptors listened to the comm chatter coming from the Terran pilots. The pilot of the lead Marine Raptor called for further instructions.
"CMC Comm Center, this is Marine Raptor 32 Delta, inbound to Gondawa. We are picking up comm chatter stating that the Terran flight is under attack. What are your orders?"
"Raptor 32 Delta, you are to break off your approach and change course to heading 165 karem 32, come in from the south, over."
"32 Delta, copy that. Changing course heading to 165 karem 32 from the south."

J sat there, listening to the communications from the Terran and Marine pilots. This entire situation was getting crazier by the moment. J looked at the weapons that they had on board the Raptor and knew they could defend themselves but not from this position. They would need to leave the shelter of the Raptor and find someplace that afforded more cover. It was only a matter of time before the unfriendly types arrived.
"Lieutenant, gather up our packs and as many supplies as you can grab. Also, all weapons and ammo. We need to get the frak outta here and fast."
"Yes Sir."
J began cramming stuff into the pack. Grabbing the hand-held comm unit, J also took out a small explosive device and set the timer for 15 minutes, placing the device on the Raptor's console. He wasn't about to let the TLF have a Raptor that could be repaired.
"Well, it was such a nice home Lieutenant. Let's hope the next place is just as roomy."
As J and the Lieutenant began their trek away from the Raptor, J could hear the sounds of aircraft off in the distance. Looking around, he could not spot them but he knew they were getting closer. Spotting the tree line about 200 meters away, J motioned to the Lieutenant and they began making their way through the still present heavy snow.

As the Ptemkaren transport began to soar helplessly across the sky, her captain looked up watching with an experienced eye as space begin to light up across the horizon:
"What the Frak? Where did the cylons come from?" He looked bewildered as he pointed for his crew to see.
They each gazed out the starboard navigator's window with a look of awe, and fear in their eyes.

Cavil sat in the rear of the heavy raider as they flew past the stricken Colonial transport. They only needed seconds more to get where they were headed. After that, the Colonials could send up a thousand Vipers to chase them. Losing the heavy raider was of no consequence to Cavil, getting to where he was headed to was all that mattered.
"Centurion, get this ship to its destination, then lead the Colonials away from there, do you understand?"
"By Your Command."
The group of heavy raiders continued off into the distant sky, leaving the crew of the Colonial transport to only wonder what the frak was happening.

The nose of the transport lurched forward. From out of the passenger windows the passengers saw the flames from the heat shields light up fiery red.
Elea worked relentlessly helping those she could reach. But there was little she could do for the more seriously injured.
"We'll get you to a hospital soon ... very soon, now you just rest, Maricia." She told a young ensign who would never survive a crash landing, not to mention the next 20 minutes.
She pushed the needle of the syringe deep into the bulging vein in her arm so the morpha would begin to work quickly. Very quickly then turned to one of the newly trained medics and shook her head so he would move on and help someone else.

On board the Fleet Station-Terra
High above the planet, a young Lieutenant watched the DRADIS console. She was busily coordinating Vipers both on the surface and on board two Colonial warships that were nearby. The sudden appearance of several heavy raiders caught everyone on the station by surprise, considering the fact that the station could have easily been destroyed had those raiders focused their attention on them. Looking over at the Colonel, the Lieutenant called out the current situation.
"Colonel Bardeaux, several Cylon heavy raiders have jumped into the planets lower atmosphere, course heading is towards the Gondawa region. Alert Vipers are scrambled on the surface and Vipers are responding from nearby as well. No further Cylon contacts this sector Sir."
The Colonel nodded to the Lieutenant and continued to listen to Fleet HQ on his headset. Whatever it was about Gondawa, it was sure shaping up to be a mess. Removing the headset for a moment, Colonel Bardeaux called out to the Lieutenant.
"Continue to track them and let me know if their course changes. What's the ETA on those Vipers?"
"Two minutes from our location and three minutes on the surface."

Screaming in from the east, the eight Colonial Vipers were flying as fast as they could to intercept the Cylon heavy raiders. The Vipers had caught up to the Marine heavy raptors that were already en-route to the Gondawa region and were now escorting them in. Calling to her pilots, Captain Jo Galdan was aware that they were flying into an unknown situation.
"Listen up people, intel is scarce on this but we have several heavy raiders in the atmosphere and heading towards the crash site. We also have a transport down or soon to be down. Keep your eyes open for anymore raiders. ETA is two minutes. Be prepared for surface fire and cover those raptors on the way in."

"This is it!" Captain Garent cried out as he began to level their descent.
"We will be on the ground in less than ten seconds, and it will be rough. Find the safest position you can. Our inflatable crash cushions are active but have never been tested." The navigator announced to the passengers over the com.
"5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2..."
Elea closed herself into a ball on the floor as she was trained and held on with all her might. Her wrist now throbbing intensely.
The transport began to screech and buckle as what was left of the landing gear began to strike nature.

As Captain Galdan and the other pilots continued their flight, she looked at her DRADIS and watched as the Colonial transport continued its descent to the surface. She could tell the transport was coming in somewhat level but knew that the terrain was going to make it one hell of a rough ride.
"Comm center, this is Captain Galdan, the transport is almost on the deck. We are coming in right behind them and will be over their location shortly. Raptors are beginning their final descent. No enemy contacts and no surface activity. We will fly the CAP above the landing site. Standing by for further instructions, over."

On board the lead Marine raptor, the Marine in charge, Gunnery Sergeant Seth Montel, looked at his Marines.
"Allright ladies, get ready. We will be on the surface in moments. We have Cylons in the area, and now we have a Colonial transport down. We will secure the LZ, the other teams will head to the crash site of the downed transport and to the last know location of those heavy raiders. Vipers will provide air cover. Check your gear and be prepared for anything."

Wishing the raptor would hurry up and land already, Ensign Maggie Herrod sat anxious. She never did like flying and flying in a raptor was even less appealing. Still, she had made a few combat landings during her field training with the Marines and she knew what was expected of her. There were going to be wounded to tend to. She looked at the faces of the Colonial Marines around her and felt relieved. Being a Terran though placed her at a disadvantage. She knew how the Marines felt about having Terrans around, although for the most part, the Marines were very courteous and friendly to her and the rest of her med team.
Maggie checked her gear one last time as she felt the raptor lurch downward. This was it, they were landing. Holding onto her med bag, Maggie braced herself for the jolt of hitting the surface. As soon as the raptor was landed, the hatch was opened and the Marines began to pour out. Waiting until all the Marines were out the hatch, Maggie motioned to the three med techs with her and they too exited the raptor.
"Ok, let's set up the Triage over there, by that large boulder. It'll give us some measure fo protection. Get the IV's ready and I want all the wounded who are given Morpha marked. I don't want any accidental overdoses, understand?"
The med techs nodded and began setting up the makeshift field hospital. All they could do now was wait for the wounded and injured to be brought to them.
