Clayton cocked his head as he listened to the news. This was the biggest Cylon attack since the one in which Galactica disappeared. He felt a strangeness when he hear mention of the 'members of the Terran government' because he knew that he was in that group now. He can imagine the action going on, remember the feel of combat. The warrior in him itched to be back in the cockpit, pulling 'G's and mixing it up in the middle of the furball. He wasn't too old to return to that role, but he'd stepped further down his other career path, the one of developing technology. That felt familiar as well, and he itched to get back to creating things.
He shared a look with General Yolander. What was she thinking? Clayton was an ex-Marine as well, and he was sure that the warrior in her was stirred up. If she was like him, though, she was wishing for the days when politics weren't such a big player in their decisions. Sometimes the enemy at the other end of your gun muzzle was less deadly than the one at the other side of the cocktail table.

(THIS WILL ALSO BE POSTED IN THE SPACE BATTLES THREAD) Six enormous three-lobed craft parted and all vanished with the tsing of FTL drives making Jumps. They appeared at six equidistant and equiangular points. If they had materialized around a globe, they would have been at four points ninety degrees apart along the equator as well as the north and south poles. They were in the ideal configuration to be surrounding a single vessel. That, in fact, was what they were doing. Each fighter, as big as a Gemenon transport in linear dimensions. turned to converge on something at the center of the space between all six. In the center of that space was a compact transport that had Jumped from Terra's atmosphere scant hours ago. It appeared to be turning back on a course toward that planet, which forced the other craft to make a move beyond simple surveillance.

Setting up next to the mic, Sergeant Brock spoke softly as he held onto his tablet; "This is the official statement released not just by the Marine Corps but by the Special Forces. Sometime ago, a bloody coup started with the Nationalist party taking the lead resulting in more than half of all Terran Marines joining them and slowly starting to wipe out the SF ranks. 2 days ago during the retake of Corinth, Cylon raiders detonated an estimated 20 kiloton warhead over Corinth resulting in the destruction of the Frigate Venture; casualties are still coming in and its estimated over 2/3's of the cities population is dead. As for the rumors of Atlantis, the SF's would like to remind everyone that Atlantis doesn't exist and the bulk of the Nationalist were held up in the city of Atlanti here in Gondawa territory. The rumors are just that and if there was proof of Atlantis it would have revealed itself a long time ago. As for Sparta, we can confirm that the city population is dead and that it is on lockdown by the Cylon force as for any retake has to be planned and shall be executed in coming time. We can confirm the city of Alpheus, it still under rogue Marine control and has Nationalist in charge, at least for now the issue has been contained and until further notice any plans for recapture are deemed classified. Thank you for coming and hope to bring peace back to Terra."

Sergeant Brock picked up a new report passed on from his SF counterpart before calling the reporters back; "A short time ago, an SF and TCIA recon drone flew over Sparta to confirm suspecions that the Cylons have 15 to 20 high kiloton nuclear warheads. With this confirmation, SF Command is placing Sparta into TCIA hands and is holding off on a counter attack at least till they can determine the origins and even more if they can be disarmed safely. However, the TCIA has found who has orchastrated this attack, Former Sec. of Defense Alex Phoenix, even more they've found he had been quietly funding disgruntle Marines who were responsible for the Presidents security. Through assets in the Ha'La Tha crime sydicate, Alex had been building his Centurions on Terra very quietly in preperation for this attack, with a joint task force we've shutdown all these factories but we were too late. We do know of the skin job in charge of Sparta simply known as Marcus, we do know he is a model 7 and one of Alex's top lieutenants. We do apologize for the lateness of this information and we will not be taking questions."

Walking onto the Bridge, Judith was somewhat taken aback at how swiftly the crew had jumped into action. She had mistakenly thought that the crew was as laid back as their Captain, and she cursed herself for thinking Captain Markus was an administrative fool. The man came across as being some sort of flunky, someone who had managed to attain his position through being related to the right people. Having watched him and his crew had changed that thinking. She approached the man from behind his seat.
"Captain, I do not wish to begin to tell you how to do your job, but I was thinking in light of the fact that Corinth has been attacked again, this time with a thermonuclear device, perhaps a return there is not in order. I was thinking perhaps a return to Eresea is our best option. The government has resources there, not to mention it is perhaps the most defended position on the planet."
Judith knew the Eresean's would not be so thrilled to have her setting up shop there but there was little if any choice in the decision. Besides, Drexl would be close to his secret operations down there and they would need him and his resources now more than ever.

Joseph was busy listening to the wide range of information being give to him by the Bridge Crew to really pay attention to the Judge. He knew the woman was the power behind the throne, so to speak, but she could be such a bitch. Still, proper decorum dictated he should at least feign he was hanging on her every word. Turning in his chair he looked at the woman.
"Eresea? You think that's a wise idea? I mean, look at what happened the last time you were there. Still, Corinth is a no go. Fleet HQ and the Government Center are a shambles. Sparta was a no go the last Cylon attack, so not sure why they chose to hit it again, with a nuke no less. Eresea it is then."
Looking at his Navigator, Joseph gave the order for a course change.
"Leftenant, change course for Eresea City. I want all crew to brace for enemy contact as well. We have no idea what's down there."
As the ship changed course, Joseph stared ahead as he spoke to the Judge.
"Your Honor should go back to her quarters and prepare for a rough ride. It's safer there than it is here."
Joseph knew his blow off would not be lost on the woman but at this point, he could care less for being civil. One of these days, when this was all finished, he was going to punch the President in the face for dragging him into all of this.

Carlie had made her way to the bridge, silently observing the action taking place. She had just heard of the course change and immediately slipped back into the corridor. Eresea? She needed to get back to Corinth, nuked or not. The panic began to set in and her body was shaking a little. That frakking assassin Marla would be on Eresea and she doubted that her luck would hold any longer if that woman were still sneaking around the place. She also was concerned with the gondawan, Gorno. The man had it in for her as well. She cursed herself silently for ever throwing in with those damn rebels because she was now wrapped up in the coup, and most likely on the losing team. She had to do something, but what? heading to her quarters, she tried to think of a way out of this mess.
"Too much security on this ship to try something stupid. No, I'll just have to deal with this when we get back to the surface."

With a flash of light, a Colonial raptor appeared. Sam smiled as it appeared on the ships radar. She would have to thank that Lieutenant back on Atlantia for finally tracking down the Marauder for her. Opening up a channel to the ship, she said:
"CMS Marauder, this is Raptor 284, requesting clearance to land, over."
She let off of the comm and patiently waited, resting quietly in the pilots seat.

:Marine Press Officer:
The Press Officer approached the podium as an SF stood off to the side with a rifle in hand, "It is very upsetting to say but under orders of the SF Command, all operations against Sparta shall end considering the enemy has dropped a Basestar in the city and now has a means to protect it and with the limited allied forces; any other attacks would risk further loss of life. SF Command and the TCIA have issued warnings to all Civilians to avoid Sparta airspace and redirect to Darous for the foreseeable future, all remaining SF forces are to redirect to Ares by orders of Colonel Thrax and will receive further orders from there, all Marines are to redirect to a nearby M.A.R.S. facility and report in to General Cotter. As for any surviving government personnel are to remain where they are, SF and TCIA is warning any government personnel who try to interfere with these orders will be imprisoned under the Articles of War. The recruitment offices for the Marines and SF's are now opening, any men or women between ages 17-37 will be accepted as well as any Gondawa citizens between ages 17-57. We will not forget Sparta and trust us, we will revenge Sparta and at this time we will not be answering any questions."

The bay will slide out and the landing lights will come on when it is fully extended. Then pick up the ball and and approach at your leisure. Marauder CIC out." Sparks changed the channel to his headset. "CIC to Engineering, we have a Raptor coming aboard."

Joseph listened to the comm chatter. How great, they're getting ready to land on the surface and a Colonial raptor wants to land. Nodding to Sparks, Joseph motioned to the Security Chief.
"Master Chief, take a team to the bay and escort the pilot to the bridge. Let 'em know their timing sucks, we're heading to the surface."
The Security Chief nodded and headed out of the bridge. Joseph looked around the room.
"Okay people, let's get this ship on the surface as soon as that raptor is on board. I want all gun crews at the ready, we've got a Cylon attack underway and a lot of skittish terrans down there."

The small greeting party led Sam through the corridors of the ship until they had reached the CIC. She allowed them to search her before she stepped though the hatch and approached the man that looked to be in charge.
Clearing her throat, she said, "Captain? I do apologize, I realize that I've stepped on a few toes by showing up. I only ask for a little time on your ship, there is someone here I need to see. I will offer whatever assistance I can once you've landed on the planet as well." The former government official stood tall with her hands tucked behind her back, her eyes focused ahead as she waited. If asked, she would leave. But not before seeing her dear friend.

Joseph stood there, listening to the rather attractive young woman standing before him. He recognized her from the few times he had been aboard both Galactica and Colonial One. For the moment though, his attention was on their entering the planets atmosphere and the almost assured greeting by both Cylon raiders and trigger happy Terran pilots. Still, for her to chase them down like this, the visit had to be important. Stepping closer to her, he extended his right hand.
"Welcome aboard Lt. Col Martin. We've never actually met but I know you from your days in the early reconvened government. So, you picked one hell of a time to pay a social call, although I suspect this sin't exactly a social call, now is it?"
Joseph was curious what Admiral Yogi was up to, seeing how there was no way one of his ranking officers simply left the Atlantia without his knowledge.
"How is the Admiral by the way, and if you don't mind me asking, where the frak is the rest of the Fleet? I know Fleet Admiral Middleton has taken off with the majority of the fleet, on one of her secret missions, but where's the REST of the fleet?"
Joseph was about to continue when he felt the small bumps of entering the atmosphere. Looking at his navigator, he returned to his seat, giving out an order, and a suggestion to the young Colonel.
"Bring us in at 20 degrees down angle, I want a steep descent. We'll avoid any raiders and freaked out Terran pilots that way. Oh and Colonel Martin, you may want to find a seat. It's gonna get bumpy until we are almost on the deck. Okay kids, get us to the surface."
Grabbing the comm and switching over to the PA, Joseph alerted the rest of the ship.
"Attention Marauder, we are entering the atmosphere of Terra and we're going to be coming in steep and fast. All hands brace for rough seas and secure yourselves, Marauder actual out."

Sam took a moment to look at the man carefully as he spoke. It finally clicked in her mind who he was. Joseph Markus, if memory served correctly. She extended her hand to shake his hand in return. "Thank you, Captain. And as I said, I am sorry for abruptly showing up like this." She mulled over his questions of the Fleet, feeling the small bumps indicating that they had entered the atmosphere.
As the Captain moved to take a seat, Sam followed, taking one a few feet from the man. As his crew worked to bring their ship about, she sighed before turning her attention back to Joseph. "The Admiral is fine, I suppose. Our ship has been trying to aid the Acheron, which was badly damaged in a fight." She held onto the arms of her chair firmly as the ship lightly shook, knowing it wouldn't be as easy going the more they descended.
"And apart from a few civilian ships and the two Battlestars, I have no clue as to the location of the rest of the Fleet." The Fleet had been split for many years, ever since the disappearance of the Galactica. Whether those ships had tried to return to the Colonies, or not, she did not know. "I believe the Admiral planned to meet you on Terra, Captain. As to the reason I'm here..." Sam crossed her legs and placed her hands in her lap. "The Admiral granted me a short leave, and I've come to see a former Colonel that is on board your ship right now."

Joseph listened to the woman, all the while already knowing the whereabouts of the Fleet Admiral and the fleet itself. He was checking to see if Admiral Yogi had been made privvy to that information. Apparently not. Steadying himself, he turned his head to look at the woman.
"Well that would be Colonel Dualla, the senior tech advisor on the planet. He has been assigned quarters on board. Once we have landed on Eresea, I will have someone show you his quarters. Oh, and Colonel, your experience as a pilot may just be needed, so be ready."
Joseph re-directed his attention to their descent and rapid approach towards Eresea. So far, there had been no interference from Cylon or Terran aircraft. That was both a blessing and a concern for Joseph.
