"DiamondClay to BlueBird. Looks like more Heavies are moving in. They may be trying to drop boarding parties. Don't let any Heavies get to our ships. They'll try to ram through the hull and they'll still have enough Centurions left functional to wreak havoc!" "Thank God THAT's good to know! Roger DiamondClay!">Ram through the hull!? Better take those trashcans from their six, they gotta be up armor or something to ram from the nose.<I turn swiftly to 2 o' clock to set up a flank on the next wave of heavies. I see DiamondClay and Rose close enough they start taking them on nearly nose to nose, it would stand to reason, they've got better ammo than what my rustbucket can handle. I make another 90 degree bank and come up on their rear. "SpitFire, DiamondClay, be advised, moving in for flanking counter-offensive. Missle lock."
"BlueBird, Fox 2 and Fox 2."The heavy raider that SpitFire damaged was now destroyed, and my second missle was on it's way to another lagging heavy... and then re-aquires some kind of missle dummy and explodes. "Target remains! Repeat, target remains! Be advised, the lagging heavy appears to have missle countermeasures. ???Did we know about this?!"

"Copy that, BlueBird." Clayton notes her vector and makes sure he is outside of her line of fire. He listens to the communications, then hears BlueBird's exclamation. Trained memory, almost physical instinct, brings an answer back.
"They've developed drone decoys that genereate similar signitures to a real Raider: heat, radiation leakage, EM leakage. Sometimes they look 'better' than the genuine article. They can even eject foil chaff or puff carbon dust around their ships at the same time to slightly mask their own signatures, so the missile goes for the strongest signal."
Clayton takes a deep breath.
"There's one thing they can't duplicate: mass. The distortion of space-time by a decoy is a lot less than a Raider, but we have to tweak our Dradis settings to pick it up. Here's what you do: Turn the Mode under the display to SET. You'll see a menu appear on the display. It will read: Combat - Long Range - Stealth - Scientific - Special. Turn the dial to the right of the main knob to select Special, and it will give you those five choices again. With the third knob, select Scientific, and you'll get several new choices. Turn the fourth knob until the word 'Gravimetric' lights up, then push the fourth knob in until it clicks. You will now see mass readings for each target. You'll notice that a heavy Raider is approximately thirty tons. When they launch a decoy, it should be no more than a ton. Point on a target of thirty tons and tap your right button on the stick. That will set it into your Dradis as the heavy Raider and ignore the decoys."

Fox 1"I notice the heavy deploys more countermeasures, evidently a futile attempt. "Target destroyed."I check my DRADIS, it's empty, and then look around for a visual. All I'm picking up are friendly signatures. Apparently, DiamondClay and SpitFire knocked out the other heavies while I was messing with my DRADIS, so I manuever back around to rejoin the proper wing formation. "Ok that's awesome, thanks for the training. Is there any chance we can help do something about that basestar? I mean I'm good for frying toasters and all, but their going to keep coming even after we run out of ammo. SpitFire, you OK over there? Haven't heard from you in a good minute."

Clayton thought on BlueBird's request for a moment. "What's your load-out? Are you carrying any nukes? I'm not." He didn't know if those Mk VIIs were retrofitted for belly carriage of nuclear weapons. He hadn't seen any under her ship, but she hadn't given him a good view of her Viper's belly.

" I can hold 6 missles, but I've only got one left. There seems to be space for a nuke... is that safe to launch at this distance from the Fleet though?"

Clayton keys his mic. "Not at this distance, no. Radiation and shrapnel would cause too much collateral damage. We'd have to move the Fleet away from the base ship. Check you armaments panel again, it should tell you what that missile is unless there's damage to the system. If not, you're going to have to roll over so I can see it and try to make a visual determination.'
Clayton keys his mic again to call the Atlantia.
"Atlantia, this is DiamondClay. We may have a usable nuke out here, and are considering options for use if Command approval is granted." Clayton was not a cowboy and wouldn't exercise the nuclear option in a space full of human ships if it was more danger than help. "We'll need a clear zone of twenty clicks radius to minimize collateral damage. Do we have approval to go nuclear if so equipped?"
Dualla watched White Fang, not yet tangling with Raiders, turning slowly. Probably to bring it's biggest forward guns to play. That is, if it's designed along the standards used for Colonial ships that use their long axis to allow at least one very large gun to be installed.
"DiamondClay to Bluebird. If we are approved and the BCR ship does not take the base star out, it's gonna be pretty dangerous for you and me because we're going to link our ships together and go as one. That will be very tricky by itself, much less the way we'll fly together."

*Coming over the comm's as it crackles*
"Atlantia to DiamondClay this is the Xo you have approval to render the nuke inoperable. If you can happen to blow it near the Cylon fleet the radiation fallout should drive them away. Let me know if that is a option? Yogi out"

Jack rolled his eyes as he heard the many demands of his ID. He was just here to help, nothing more. Bringing the wireless back to his ear, he decided to deal with Clay's question first. "White fang to hammerhead. Clay, its me. I'll answer any questions, but only after this fight, ok? Ace, that goes for you too. I have some questions for you as well." Leaving it at that, he then set down the wireless and watched the battle rage. " gunners, coordinate your firepower on the nearest basestar's midsection. We must end this fight quickly." Closing the canopy, he opened a message to Jack while clipping on his pressure locks; "After the fight, I'll meet you on your ship unarmed encase this is Mal...its hard to tell the difference of course didn't expect to hear anything from you since the last time we spoke all those years ago."

Clayton begins to explain the operation to BlueBIrd.
"If you have a nuke, we're going to join up magnetically. I'm equipped with a maglock device like the one a Raptor uses to hold itself onto the hull of a ship that's being boarded. Problem is that it's pretty much cenralized on my fuselage, which means I'm going to be magnetically grabbing the nose of your Viper. That's not a very stable arrangement: we won't be able to to anything more than the gentlest manuevers or we'll pull apart with damage to both ships. Your cockpit will be pretty much beneath and between my Nos. 3 and 3 engine, so, sorry, you'd be pretty blind except for Dradis."
"We'll maneuver in place until we're parallel to the main axis of the Star, then I'll jump us both to a position directly over the Star, about ten clicks above it. When you fire, I'll jump us out of blast radius - hopefully. If the jump in takes out my FTL, I have a second one we'll use to jump back."
"Now that we have permission from your XO, all we need to do is confirm that you have a nuke then link up. I don't want to do this if White Fang is too close, we don't need to take them out as well as the Cylons."

"Roger."
I scan through my payload inventory, and find the sweet gift that Chief stocked on board.
"So THAT's why he was so gun ho to wish me good hunting through an old two-way a while back when I launched off of 7. He must have a soft spot for Rose, LOL!"
"OK DiamondClay, I've got a radiological indicator here-- nuke on board! This is going to be interesting... just be my eyes for me once we link up, I'll need to know when the path is free of debris or anything that won't show on the DRADIS before I launch... I'm not exactly a speedy little thing, I'll need you to rescue me from my own nuke, so please take care to not leave me behind. Adjusting to 35 knots and level now Sir."
I simultaneously level out my viper, and adjust my airspeed to 35 knots, and brace myself to fly a little blind.

Flying out, Ace knew they had taken out the bulk of the raiders but there was still enough for him to at least be happy with; opening up his guns on the raiders. Not bothering to do anything fancy, considering this didn't deserve fancy flying but flying that could show how much he changed as he didn't bother with speed but accuracy.

Frak! I don't have a radiological signal. Something's out on this brand new plane!
"Roger that, BlueBird. Positive on the nuke," was what Clayton said though." He rotated the nose of Anastasia to parallel the course of BlueBird's MKVII" He took a visual of the Base Ship and tapped a few places on the large glass panel that made up the main cockpit instrument. It produced a wire frame of the Basestar and plotted the main axis, as a CAD would. He stabbed a false button labeled (ORIENT) and the main axis of the Hammerhead showed as well.
"Okay, Bluebird, here's what I need you to do. Pitch down your nose seventy-five degrees, then rotate it twenty degrees left. Finally, roll forty degrees to port and stabilize. I'm going to do the same then translate over to meet you. We'll then be parallel with the central Axis of the star. We'll mag lock together, then jump. It's better that we align ourselves separately, then join, instead of linking and trying to rotate our two ships together."
He went back to the CIC frequency.
"Acheron and Atlantia, DiamondClay and BlueBird are initiating docking maneuver prior to jumping to the launch position over the Basestar's pole that is 'up' to the fleet. We will then stand by until making sure that the White Fang is not in danger. If it is out of danger, we will be initiating nuclear attack and jumping back to the Fleet before the blast wave hits us."

Following the Major's train of logic, I adhere to his instruction immediately, and pitch nose down 75 degrees... rotate 25 degrees left...rolling 40 degree's port... aaaand stabilized.
"Ok Sir, I'm all set... hey it looks like Ace made it back out here, good to know that between him and rose, we'll have a safe spot to jump back into."
"Ace this is BlueBird, good to see you again Sir. Manuevering for a... "package" delivery with DiamondClay per the XO's clearance... It'd be mighty nice to have a safe space to jump back into Sir."

the bridge shudders from each missile that was able to sneak through the fighter screen and slam into the hull of the White fang. Jack continued to watch the battle, but his mind wandered to hearing Ace's voice. He knew Ace died in the last fight that left him stranded for a year on that rock, and now he hears Ace once again? Some questions were in dire need of answering, which only made Jack's anger increase with each passing minute that the fight lingered. As he watched one of the basestars rip in half from the pounding it received from the white fang and the nearby colonial vessels, He picked up the phone and patched through to the gunnery crews.
"Gunners, focus fire on the next basestar. but watch your fire. a colonial fighter is making a b-line for the same star, most likely with a nuke to end the fight."

Peering over at Brook as she left the ship, noticing her flying over to him as he took down another raider.
