It had been several days now since J and his gropu had left Corinth. They were only about twenty kilometers outside the city, to the south and they could still hear and feel the bombs being dropped on the city and the return fire of the anti aircraft batteries still putting up a good defense. he had been informed that the Terran military along with Colonial Marines were fighting the Cylons in about a dozen locations in and around the capital city. The losses were starting to add up, on both sides. The Colonial Marine base on Ares was busy sending reinforcements, supplies, and ordnance to Terra but there was a finite supply of personnel. The Terrans, even with their much larger population, would also start to feel the losses they were incurring. So far, the Cylons had limited their use of low yield nuclear ordnance but J knew that would change once the humans had started to gain the upper hand. That was a classic Cavil move, nuke when they started to lose. J was reading the reports from the Fleet and he wasn't happy. Still, the CYlons were bottling up their ships at the various settlements, mining operations and stations throughout the system, enough so that the Fleet was still unable to send any capital ships to Terra to fight the basestars that were attcking the planet. J looked at the Marine Sergeant nearby.
"Sergeant, I beleive it's time for us to continue to the Marine Base South."
"Yes Sir, Mr. President. I'll let our people know right away."
The Marine Base South was a hardened facility but was also one where it would be easy enough to get yourself trapped. They would go there temporarily and then he would decide where they would go to establish a more permanent set up to continue the government, if there was a planet left by that time.

The raptor had crashed, hard, in an area about thirty kilometers north of the city of Samos. Jasmine has no idea as to how long she had been unconscious. She felt the dry blood on her forehead. Looking around the cockpit, she looked over to see the body of Doral. It started to come back to her now, she had been a prisoner, having been captured several months ago on Frondal. She had been kept captive but had not been mistreated. She then remembered being with Doral, some sort of plan of Cavils to sow mistrust and confusion during, during what? The sounds of explosions off to the distance told her the answer to that question. An invasion? Most likely, she thought to herself. But how did they crash? Plot error? Shot down by their own people? Looking at Doral, she noticed he was breathing. She guessed that was a good sign but for whatever reason, she had no idea. Unstrapping herself, she climbed out of the cockpit and into the rear of the raptor. Opening the hatch, she looked outside, to the countryside. Well, no welcoming commitee. She really had no idea where she was. All she did know was that she was alive, for now. Stepping outside, she scanned the horizon. Suddenly, three raiders came streaking overhead, followed closely by two vipers firing their guns. She waved at them but they were up too high to really see her. Stepping back inside the raptor, she tried the wireless. No luck, the ship was dead. Shaking Doral, she managed to get a few sounds out of him. Grabbing the first aid kit, she took out a gauze pad and pressed it to his forehead to stem the flow of blood. She was mildly amazed at how human they were, knowing that Doral was not actually human. When he finally came to fully, she spoke to him.
"You better get your ass in gear Doral, it's just a matetr of time before someone comes to check on the crash site and I don't think we're going to get a nice welcome. We need to make it to the COlonial forces in this area if we're to survive"
Doral looked at her and winced in pain.
"I don't think I'm going to be mcuh good at moving, my left leg feels like it's broken. Leave me here and go get help, I'll be fine."
"Yeah, and when the locals come and see you're a Cylon, you'll be dead. You're going to have to suck it up and do the best you can. Now c'mon and get your ass out of that seat. We don't have all day."
Doral forced himself to get out of the seat and out of the cockpit. Making his way to the rear, he sat down to catch his breath. Looking at Jasmine, he forced a smile.
"You Marines really are some tough sons of bitches, aren't you?"
"Maybe someday, if we survive, I'll show you how tough. Now let's get going. Those flyboys are going to transmit our location and I don't want to be here in the open when the local militia shows up, guns blazing."
The two of them hobbled off into the brush, out of view to anyone in the air or on the ground. After an hour of walking through the woods, they came across a gravel road, and a road sign. The sign indicated Samos was thirty kilometers to the south. recalling her time spent here several years ago, she knew there was a military post about tne kilometers north. If they were lucky, they could get there by late morning tomorrow. If they were lucky. Something told her their luck wasn't going to hold out that long.

Approximately three hundred kilometers west of City of Sparta
All she could do was watch in both excitement and horror as she drifted towards the surface. There were centurions and hybrids down there, all of them looking up at her. ALl of a sudden, she shoots past them, the wind carrying her and her chute to a wooded area about fifty meters from the main gathering of centurions. Moments later, the sounds of twenty-millimeter rounds tearing into the ground filled her ears, along with the screams of hybrids being tore apart as well. Releasing her chute, she got to her feet and made her way to some undergrowth a few meters away from her. Her comm unit was broken so she couldn't let anyone know she was safe. For now, she would keep her ehad down and wait for the carnage from above to clear.

Corinth was gone. The Cylons ensured that the crater would remain but now they were on their own. Climbing out of the sewer drop off, they were 5 miles out of the city and in modified run off area; all of them covered in sewage. Wiping the fish bones off of his rifle, Tom took a deep breath before vomiting off to the side as he noticed the others do the same. Intense fighting for hours and then running from a collapsing sewage tunnel. Walking out of the retention pond, Tom spotted Vipers retreating as Basestars began to lower down onto what was Corinth; one lose for them and another win for the Cylons.
Walking into the jungle, they dropped their packs as they began to change into their forest camouflage; washing the grime off as they hide the urban camo fatigues. Placing the messenger bag into his pack, Tom began screwing a suppressor on with a day/night scope to his M-4 and a short range radio; "Sparta, Darios, and Alpheus are within walking distance," taking a deep breath, "your pick, sir, but the Cylons might already be there."

Listening to Tom as he rolled up his sleeves, John finished a quick upgrade to his automatic sniper rifle before turning to Jack; "We can resupply in Alpheus and they have defenses much better than Corinth not to mention the NSOTO's have a backup grid which would make an organized resistance worth it," knowing Jack would go for communication over anything. Jack simply nodded to him and they began to move out into the darkness. Unknown to them, Marcus knew this was SF training grounds so he he setup various traps and had his SF killers ready to take down intruders or even survivors of Corinth. Staying low, John could see some trip lines but he had no idea they were trekking through a minefield and a kill box. Suddenly, he could feel it, a mine under his foot and now he needed Samuel to defuse it while he looked for snipers.
Alpheus was ten miles from Corinth, it was built before Corinth and was intended to store the Council but Corinth was built as the Capital after the question of security was raised. Alpheus was the backup capital and now with Corinth gone with the chunk of government; taking control doesn't mean anything especially with the enemy at their doorstep.

Kneeling down, Samuel slowly dug out the mine only to discover that the mine was one of their own; pulling out a microchip to put in the deactivation slot. Soon, the mine deactivated and John lifted his foot while Samuel pulled the prongs off before grabbing the mine; placing it into his pack. Walking back to his old position, he turned to Tom as he noticed a small path; "Looks like the Cylons mapped it out for us," pausing as he turned to Jack, "they knew this would be our path and they probably don't know that we're here," grabbing his rifle.
Looking around, he noticed a stone path where instructors would walk yet path was partly covered with leaves. Staying low and stepping on the rocks, he bypassed the minefield, spotting snipers aiming and waiting as he pulled out his knife; sneaking up behind them as he sliced the spinal cord's which meant no squeezing triggers but these weren't the SF killers. Hardware was SF. Mount. Nacea and Fort Lexington were in Cylon hands so they could now have their own weapons kill them.

The rain began to penetrate through the trees and the hills became muddy as they climbed up and over the obstacles. Noticing tons of debris, most of it Colonial, which meant during the retreat that ships were fighting to let the civilians retreat below them but one ship drew his attention; the Vigilance.
The Vigilance was a recon ship, built a year after meeting the Colonials, it really didn't have to many offensive/defensive weapons but it was replaced with the Icarus. The ship had FTL capability but a crew of 30 as well as quite advance yet now it was nothing more than scrap metal covering the forest floor. It would be standard procedures to release a virus into the mainframe to infect any Cylons that tried pulling anything off of the core but the FTL appeared to be gone.
Climbing through the wreckage, Jack saw no bodies so the survivors probably got off on two raptors; but this ship still carried one important piece of gear. All SF ships have an advance encryptor which could cut through the jamming and use channels that the enemy doesn't know about. Reaching the bridge, he moved around to the communications area and removed a panel where the simple blue box sat; disconnecting the cables as he pulled the box out. Walking out of the wreckage as he handed the box over to Tom, "Take care of that," pausing as he pulled out a belt of grenades to toss in the ship, "we're not far now."
Climbing over the next ridge, he could see the city and its defenses all at the ready. Dropping down onto the road, they were worn out as they ran for the gates; tripping over their boots as the dried dirt fell off of them. Reaching the gates, they pulled out they're IDs to hand to the Ghosts before stepping into the city only to rest against the wall.

Just outside Hemsburg
Jasmine and Doral had sat there, having wintnessing the nuclear fireball that engulfed the City of Hemsburg. Although it was a small detonation, it destroyed the city nonetheless. The winds were blowing to the west, away from their position. Within minutes, aircraft were flying on from the surrounding countryside. The relief efforts were already underay and the dust cloud hadn't even settled. Looking at Doral, she made a sly remark.
"Well, looks as if we won't be enjoying any bed and breakfast time there. Looks like we'll have to find our way to a refugee camp since I'm sure they're being set up right now."
Jasmine knew they needed to reach someone, preferrably Colonial forces but at this point, any officials would do. If the Cylons were ready to nuke one city, they would nuke more. Being out of communications with her people was driving her crazy and not really knowing what was happening was the hardest part. Getting up, she grabbed her backpacjk.
"C'mon, we gotta get out of here and find help."

Adjusting his suit, Alex wore a black and gray suit with his blue tie as he sat in the leather chair with the reporter adjusting himself before the interview started:
Reporter: I'm Seth Washington with the Terran News Network and I have Ambassador Alex Jones here with me. He's currently the Caprica Ambassador and he's taken time from his schedule to answer our questions; thank you Ambassador.
Alex Jones: Thanks for having me, Mr. Washington.
Reporter: It's been almost a year since the Terran Civil War and it appears the Colonies have recovered but what is the true state of our cousins?
Alex Jones: Honestly, the colonies are recovering quite well with Tauron actually having the larger cities. The SF solution to the radiation is actually effective and the Colonies are livable again. Our Homeland Defense Force is actually a fine example for the ones here.
Reporter: That was going to lead up to my question about the HDF...what is your impression of the HDF?
Alex Jones: As you know, I was a well renown pilot in the Colonial Military and retired with honors which is why I was chosen for this task. With that said, the HDF has proven to be quite effective yet only being a year old we still expect a lot from them. If you don't mind, I have a pending matter that needs my attention.
Reporter: Thank you, Ambassador, for this interview and this has been Terran News Network.
Getting up, he shook hands with the producers before turning attention to his secretary and a black folder.

Having made their way out of the Capital, Jasmine was anxious to get to the raptors and back to the base. Knowing that if anything could go wrong, it will, she kept an alternate plan in the back of her mind. Survivors had been streaming away from the city in all directions and there had been reports of trouble between the refugees and those who lived out in the back country as the city dwellers called them. There had already been reports of gunfire and at least several people dead. She only had 9 Marines with her and several civilian officials to protect. She didn't like the odds one bit.
Up ahead, she could see the raptors. She also saw there was a small group of people standing next to one of the raptors but she couldn't tell what was happening or of they were wearing uniforms. She signaled the truck following her vehicle to turn off the road and come along her left. Reaching for the rifle next to her right leg, she looked behind her and spoke.
"Well folks, we have some company where the raptors are and since I have no idea who they are or what they want, we do this real slow and easy. Keep your heads down."

After a rather slow and long recon mission from three of her Marines, it had been determined that the individuals located at the site of where the raptors were sitting were survivors from the city who had made their way to safety, consisting of a few elderly folks, several children and five adults, all who were hungry and thirsty. The raptor crews had given them their food and water rations and had requested evac raptors or shuttles to come to their location but had yet to receive a reply. Jasmine decided that their group would go to where the raptors were and she would make contact with the Marine Base for assistance.
Sitting in the lead vehicle, Jasmine kept her rifle ready, just in case. The three Marines who had done the recon mission came out from the brush and showed themselves as her vehicle came closer to where the raptors and civilians were. Coming to a halt, she stepped out of the vehicle, her rifle slung low but ready. The truck came up behind her and two Marines got out of the back, providing security to the rear of the group. Seeing a Captain handing food to a child, she called out to her.
"Captain, is everything okay?"
Saluting Jasmine, the Captain smiled.
"Yes ma'am, just seeing to it the children get enough to eat. They've apparently been walking for several days, trying to make their way to the coast and the naval base there. They heard there are refugees already there."
"Well, they sure had a long walk ahead of them. Is there room on board for all of them?"
"I think we can accommodate all of them between the three raptors just fine. Are we taking them with us or to the naval base?"
"We don't have time to go to the naval base so they can come with us, they'll be taken care of there. We need to get loaded and out of here though, there's a lot of angry people streaming out of the city and uniforms seem to make them even angrier."
"Yes ma'am. Need to do a quick pre-flight and we can get going in a matter of minutes."
"Great, let me get our guests out of the vehicles and into the raptors and you see to it the civilians are strapped in."
"Aye ma'am."
Within a few minutes, everyone was loaded and they were soon on their way to the Marine Base.

They were finally within a few kilometers of the Marine Base when the message came across the wireless.
"General Yolander, you and your party are to immediately make way to the Capital as soon as possible, do you copy, over?"
Grabbing the handset, she spoke.
"Be advised, we are almost to the Base, we will arrange transport once we are there, over."
"Negative, you are to head to the Capital at once, over."
"Negative, if it's such an emergency for us to get there, we can get there much faster by air than surface, we are now looking at the perimeter fence of the Base and will be at the Main gate soon, over AND out."
